The wife and I are going to be flying in the DFW tomorrow and spending the day in the Dallas area on Sunday, before we head to OK to see our son graduate from Basic Training.

Any suggestions on a good place to eat on the North side of Dallas?

Also any suggestions on suburbs of DFW to check out on Sunday? We're seriously considering a move to Texas. We want to get out of California before it secedes from the United States and becomes a Socialist 3rd world Country, officially. We thought we'd spend most of the day on Sunday checking things out before heading to Lawton Oklahoma.

 

There are so many places to eat in north dallas! What kind of food?

Suburbs.. its blowing up here, the colony, plano, frisco, lewisville, grapevine, grand prairie, mansfield.

Well dang it! Our flight isn't scheduled to land till 4:30. Would have been cool to catch one of your meets. Hopefully you'd make an exception if we came mobbin a Jeep Cherokee rental lol.

 

Location would really need to be based off where you would be working. DFW as a whole is pretty large and traffic can get bad(Not Cali bad though).

All these plus McKinney, Allen, Murphy, Wylie and Rockwall are all nice areas for the Dallas side. I dont know anything about the FW side to give any ideals that direction.

I think we could let it slide since its only a rental. I wouldn't be there that late as I have plans tomorrow night.

 

Ft Sill sucks, as does Lawton. Bring him some beer from Community/Lakewood/Texas Ale Project and let him taste some freedom before AIT.

The nature preserve is a pretty area, and far enough away from Lawton to not run into other army folks.

If his gf/bf is coming, it’s also a good place for some alone time.


For your time in Dallas, check out the aforementioned breweries, Trinity Groves for good/casual food, and Clyde Warren Park’s food trucks for a fun urban lunch spot. Or there’s the Truck Yard and lower Greenville.

Or Deep Ellum if you’re looking for a little more “gentrification” in progress.

I’d recommend east Dallas (east of I75 north of downtown Dallas). Lower Greenville has some restaurants/bars to check out there.

 

Yes, we will probably take him out on the 18th. He'll be released after grad on the 18th and will head to DFW with us to fly home for block leave.

 

I live in California... It takes an hour to get anywhere here. Lol
