Wow! That's an old photo. Yup, mall wheeling it is. It's my DD, so I'm not into off-road repairs. It'd be a different story if this was a second vehicle.

Morning all. Ice tomorrow? Snow tomorrow? Trying to change plans & go look at a 3rd Toyota. But it would make the Tacoma redundant. Details to follow if fate decides to play nice.

Did the headlight switch mod...still escapes me why Toyota marketing wank makes you pony up the extra scratch for intermittent wipers. Last car i seen with 2 speed wipers was my 85 Buick LeSabre

I knew I wasn't keeping the Stang long so I lived with it. I did the delay mod on my Tacoma pretty fast though..simple

Epic Fail. Wasted the sunny, "warm" 3 hours of my life on the last warm day of winter.
'holiday traffic' made me 30 minutes late getting to banks & out of town. Google maps decided it couldn't find a way to my destination even though the trip was downloaded into my phone. Drove past my exit on the Taconic expecting the not working phone to tell me when to exit. (Duh!) Only went 5 miles too far + 5 miles back = even later. Now I'm the C'list jerk. Get there to find the Toyota misrepresented. (sarcastic "surprise!"). Oh well.

So, driving home I decided to treat my Taco like a new toy when I got back. Got back. Get the Taco keys to get it out & click, click, click. Fine, pull the dead battery, put it in the Pius, get the used motor oil & add that. Down to auto parts store, dump oil, drop battery, get new battery, & since they have it a Haynes for the truck. Go home, put in the battery & this is when fate starts to really screw with me.

Fate really enjoys screwing around with me. It was having fun today. Grrrr.

Battery cables won't fasten to battery posts. Posts too narrow. Have to break apart the little anti corrosion plastic bits to get the nubs out so the cable ends can get tight enough to hold on. Good thing I got the felt pads & dielectric grease. Dark now of course. And cold, wind blowing up the hill. Finally get cable ends to hold the posts. get hold down fastened down. Check my work - FAIL! The arm/hook at back of battery somehow unhooked while tightening the front bolt. Unscrew front bolt, get hook hooked, and front bolt & socket go runabout. Socket lands at my foot. Bolt is gone. Absolutely gone. POOF. not here. not there. still not here, still not there, nope - not even way over there. Not on the radiator, not on the headlight. Not on the battery tray, not in the grill. Not under the tire, not on the frame rail. Not in my shoe tread, not inside the valance. Not on the turn signal housing, not - KLUNK!

WTF? Where the H#ll were you?

Take magical bolt covered in dielectric grease into cold/arthritic fingers covered in dielectric grease, heave my arse upright, position battery hold down, verify hook is hooked, start magic bolt, reverify hook is hooked, finish magic bolt, re-reverify hook is hooked. Hooked.

Done.

Bring stuff in, clean tools, clean hands, put away tools, trash trash, clean hands again. Take truck for a 30ish minute drive.

Truth be told, didn't enjoy the drive as much as I should have. Sucky wasteful day, Fate using the Taco as a conduit to screw with me, too much traffic to enjoy my driveabout. There's a slight rotor warp I think. Oh, & the "good" red wine from Chile I got to go with dinner - sucks. Really sucks. Hate when a day ends up wasted. Hate when a 'treat' bombs. Can you bring back open wine/beer if you hate it for a refund?

Okay. Rant over. A 2nd glass of that crap wine & bed I think. Maybe I'll go look at a Tundra tomorrow. Something I won't mind driving in the salt.
Still 1 more chance (day) for the weekend to not be a waste.
