That's a bold definitive statement with zero supporting evidence.

I will agree that the AT2 and ATX are not the same tire, but I will not agree that they are totally different. The tires have a very similar, if not identical, tread pattern. The AT2 earned the severe snow service mountain/snowflake symbol in most sizes. There is no need to change a winning/working recipe. The sidewall is noticeably different. I think this is something that General had to change up to keep the tire relevant in today's market. Just look at the resurgence of the BFG KO2 with the sidewall redesign.

The load rating and sizes do not match up, and the ATX is not offered in nearly as many sizes as the AT2. This supports your "completely different tire" theory.

My personal thought is that General is testing the new ATX in a few sizes to see how it does on the market. If it does well, I think we will see that sidewall adapted to more sizes and the AT2 eventually phased out. This allows General to keep the working recipe, but improve public perception and sell more of them. If it doesn't do well, then we'll likely see the ATX phased out and another AT2-like tire with a different sidewall.

...or did you just troll me?

I know for certain the AT-2 is phased out and they aren’t making more. The AT-X is their new tire they are going with. I do agree that they don’t have as many side wall options. Probably to see how this tire does. I just got my set yesterday

Pics man! For the love of Tacomas!

I don’t want to jump to a 17, and am not sold on 235s either.

    When will there be a C-load 265?

    Bump.

Anymore feedback from those running the ATXs? Vibration, traction, wear issues? Happy with your purchases? Thanks in advance.

Almost time for new rubber and I'm torn between these and the Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Loving my ATX tires, so far they are not much different from the At2's. I ordered them through @Discount Tire Direct and had the local store install them. My old generals took me all the way to the artic ocean and back so time will only tell how these compare, though I don't have any doubts.

X2, I haven't had any issues on mine. They run quiet and smooth, and handle wet/snowy pavement very well. And they're wearing like iron I expect these to run a long time under my Tacoma.

Whats the current scoop on these?
I'm probably gonna take these brand new KO2s back, since they can't seem to balance after 3 attempts and jacking my wheels up.

Do these come in load p or c in 265/70/17?

Sorry to hear your BFG T/A KO2 tires to balance properly. The 265/70R-17 come on C, D and E load ratings.

Yeah me too, as a result of the numerous times trying to balance them.. My wheels now look like crap and are all scratched up from the tire techs scrapping the weights off carelessly. So now I'll have to deal with refinishing all my wheels. Honestly after time, effort, and cost of materials~ New ones would be a better option... Not happy about it.

Ordering these this week 285/75/16. Can’t wait to get them on. My last set of tires I did a full Wright up and will be doing the same with these. I drive 20-25k a year and live in Maine so it should be well rounded and fairly quick.
