Does anyone no anything about 2000 RAV4’s? Are they any good? Thinking about getting one for a second vehicle and make a daily driver out of it instead of my taco

How many miles? Condition? AWD or FWD? Auto or manual?

Generally, they were pretty good vehicles...2000 being the last year for the 1st gen. However, it's closing in on 20 years old. Time and age can catch up to the best of vehicles.

    Need more info

It is FWD, green, 171653 miles, clean interior, power everything. Seller lives across the street from me. He’s asking $3200 lowest he’d go he said is 3k

That's probably good that it's FWD. The AWDs have a vicious coupling center differential. Generally robust....but depending on it service history and treatment...the clutches can be worn. Same with the ones equipped with the limited slip rear diff....again viscous coupling setup.

2000 was the last year for a timing belt. I would look into replacing that. That engine is generally considered a non-interference engine. But I wouldn't want to take that chance.

Another thing to consider is the water pump. If you change the timing belt....some say go ahead and swap the pump since you're already in there.

Just work your way through the fluids...oil (high mileage formula is what I would do), power steering, transmission, coolant and brake fluid.

At this point age is just as big a deal as mileage .

Was hestitant to comment, at least til you looked at it. Cuz mines a 06 first year 3rd gen. what I can say, is with 250K kms (150K miles) this truck owes me absolutely nothing. Other than fluids, brakes and tires all is orig. Orig battery, exhaust, suspension, timing chain, water pump. And it's the 4 cyl. It's had a hard DD life in large city commuting. Belongs to my wife, but I've put 98% of the miles on it...I've offered to upgrade it for her to new MY many times over the years. Won't let me, its her truck.

I strap on some dedicated snows it the winter, and that little fvcker is a nimble bastard (its AWD). In 6 inches or less snow, I'll strap that buggy on me before the Tacoma. Over 6 and its Tacoma time.

So ya, 2 gens apart but rav4's at least to 3rd gen are Toyota reliable.

good luck, I would get him down on price tho

The 3rd gens moved to a different platform and drive train....including an on-demand AWD system that only engaged the rear wheels when slip was detected from the front, as opposed to the permanently engaged 60/40 split of the older system (basically the old Camry/Celica All-Trac system).

So the 2 really aren't directly comparable. But the RAV line in general has proven to be very reliable over the years.

Biggest complaints were engine problems in 2004 when they switched to the 2.4 AZ engine. They had head bolts that would stretch. And there were complaints of cheap interior componentry throughout the life of the 3rd gen and the 1st 2 years of the 4th gen. Toyota has addressed that to some extent in the '16+ model years.

I know this is a Tacoma website but I thought I would post this here if you guys know of anyone. I’m selling my barely used Undercover classic from my F150. I’m only asking $350 for it and paid $873 in May. Let me know and I’ll even throw in a little sellers fee 897074C7-C6BE-4ACA-9BBE-22A2A5F7FD58.jpg
