Does anyone know if the Are HD series cap needs to have the factory installed rack to be able to hold 500 lbs on top?

I want to know because I may want to do matching racks if I do get a cap.

When you got your quote did it specifically say it will hold 500 lbs static weight or 500 active weight? Because if they are going to warranty it with those crappy looking bars, I need to know this

I talked to ARE they said its a moving weight. witch static weight is normally 3x dynamic weight. honestly alot of people run standard caps with RTT with no problems so I think u could be fine either way.

They give the cap more utility, and make it easier to get into the bed. And I figured if i feel like putting in a shelf behind it for tools and stuff I could do that too.

If I got a cap, it have that, then i was toying with the idea of a decked system inside for storage of firearms and stuff when I go to the range, and when I travel I wont be filling up the interior with shit. I was gonna mount a fridge on top of that.

Just spitballing with the cap and everything, Im looking at near 5k without a tent. Id rather stay at a best western at that point

Windows are easy to break, and Im not comfortable leaving machine guns behind glass, neither are my friends that own them lol.

Let me just say this, last time I was at the range, the cost of the guns that I had in my truck was more than 2 of my trucks.
