Thanks! The most amazing part to me is that this incredibly beautiful movement is hidden under a steel caseback on the "standard" Speedmaster Pro (a.k.a. Moonwatch) which is what I have. I got my sapphire caseback from a guy in Germany who makes and sells direct fit casebacks for a few watch models.

I have always been seriously fascinated by mechanical clocks/watches, etc. Think about this: the Speedmaster ticks 518,400 times in a day (or 21,600 beats per hour). And on an average day, my Speedmaster is about 2 seconds fast. That means that in an entire 24 hours (or 518,400 beats), it is only off by about 12 ticks. Think of the tolerances all those gears have to be made to to maintain that level of accuracy...

Man, those Aqua Terras are some of the most beautiful watches to me. I absolutely love the dial on every one I have seen.

Did you say Aqua Terra dial?? :) A couple more photos from the collection:

Those aren't color corrected at all. Simply changing angles is all it take to see the variation. My favorite is on a clear sunny day, but in the shade. The dial is a blue like no other in those circumstances. However, just like the photo of my Speedy's movement above, I added a little bit of (probably too much) sharpening and didn't do any masking. Looks a little bit wonky, in my opinion. I've learned many things about Lightroom since I took these 3 or so years ago.

EDIT: I agree about the Aqua Terra dial. On this particular model, it's juuust right in my opinion. The newer models remove the border on the date window and I don't really care for it.

It's perfect. The old saying "even a broken clock is right twice a day." Yours will be correct ALL DAY on January 10th! Or any Thursday the 10th for that matter. ;)

I'm assuming you've never had it serviced? A testament to the Japanese movements. The cost of a service at a reputable watchmaker would probably exceed the actual value of the watch, but it might be worth it because that thing has a great story to tell. Aside from maybe replacing the crystal, I would make sure they don't attempt any cosmetic changes...hands, dial, case polishing, bezel replacement, etc. Every ding and scratch on that thing has a memory, good or bad, attached to it.

I wish I knew where I could get this one completely restored. I had this one on my wrist for almost 30 years. Wore out three bands and it needs a fourth.

Seiko quartz watches are notoriously reliable. It might be cheaper to source a NOS movement than rebuild. You can even swap it out yourself.
