Its cool man. They got it out last night. She was on the phone with her brother a bit. She slept it off, and is now focused on how to deal with everything.

I was thoroughly expecting her to sleep a better of the day...... but, I guess that irish blood can take a beating.... lol

Personally I think it has to do with the door design. The drain's not in the bottom of the door (at least it wasn't on my F150) because they curve it underneath the cab. And when the door's shut, the drain port presses up against a gasket (you could see the imprint of it on the gasket when the door was open) so the water in the door only drains when the door's open. Just dumb.

It makes sense, the SD and the 150 have the same cabin so the same issues. Mine wouldn’t close when it happened either, it was the latch freezing so it wouldn’t cycle and grab the catch. Lubing it up fixed the problem. I think at the factory, they didn’t use the proper type of grease me thinks. They used something that would hold water
I think you’re talking about something a little different. You had issues with the gasket freezing to the body?

No, I had problems with the door latch freezing. But my theory was that it was because the door always held water, which let a lot more moisture build up in the latch mechanism and freeze when the temps dropped.

I don't know if that caused it or not, but that doesn't sound like a good design either way. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...could apply to that.

I don't think it has to do with grease, I had mine greased a few times very thoroughly at the dealer and it always came back. I think there is something wrong with their whole entire design. There are tons of people saying they "got the fix" and then it breaks again.

Mine wouldn't close either and the wife wouldn't ride in it, so it had to go.

The bulletin on mine says they'll only fix it if you've had the problem--it's more like a TSB than a recall. I enabled global windows on mine, so I figure I could always open the windows with the key fob and open the door that way if it happened to me (from what I read the interior handle has enough force to break the frozen lock free).

At this point it sounds like they add a "shield kit" to the lock mechanism. A friend has a similar truck and did have the problem--they want his for a day to fix it.

I try to avoid the dealer unless I have to go there for a warranty issue. They were great for sales (although I'm beginning to think that was only because of the guy I dealt with), but service is such a production. I had the code for my warranty temperature sensor issue--I figured I'd just be able to swing by and have them verify it, make sure it wasn't a connection issue, and order the part. It'd take two minutes. Nope--needed to do an appointment, wait for an hour to tell me what I already knew, come back in a week when they have the part, wait another hour.

I had the issue of it not opening, so I popped it open from the passenger side. At that time, it wouldn't close and latch either. The latch was still closed so the pin was just hitting an already closed latch. I used a screw driver to open the latch so it could receive the pin and it closed. It happened the next day (these were the 2 back to back cold days before Thanksgiving), so I just lubed the latch mechanism, cycled it a bunch of times and it hasn't happened since. We've had some pretty cold days also so I'm hoping that was it. I think their assembly grease is trapping water where the film of oil won't.

    Morning everyone:wave:

Going to go to breakfast this morning in a little bit with the wife then go check out progress to the house. Went in yesterday and they had just started taping inside, so that's exciting. Then back up here to put the tracks on the ranger for the winter. This has historically been a PIA project because while it should be relatively quick and easy, parts are always missing, I am 99% sure I have everything ready though and where it should be, so hopefully only takes an hour or so.

It's going to be an icy-rainy mess later this morning and we already lost most of our snow with the heat the past couple days:rain:. Hoping it comes back before Christmas.

Speaking of Nespresso, the damn machine broke already. Getting a new machine sent out this week.

Also, and unrelated found out my dog is dying. He has an inoperable tumor so he’s now home on pain meds to keep him comfy. I just got done cooking up steak and pork, his diet is off, Lots of treats in his future! He’s doing well for now, just really sucks knowing what’s coming.
