I did the same thing about 2 months ago. Traded my 17 Limited with 27k miles for a 17 DC OR with 9k miles.

A long road trip from AL to OK was the clincher. I really liked my tacoma, but just needed a full size to be able to work and travel effectively.

    Best to all.

Traction has a lot to do with it. Doesn't one truck look to have better tires to start ?
Taco is not in 4wd. Is other truck ? 4 lo ? Too many variables.

Exactly... I’m not one to say negative comments about someone else’s purchase, and I’m sure the new Tundra owner will enjoy his vehicle. That said, Toyota’s only truck category entry “winner” is the Tacoma. Ford, Dodge, and GM have the full size truck market sewed up... (with GM losing ground lately), so why buy anything less? i.e., Full Size Truck = Toyota is like Mid Size Truck = Honda.

I suppose it’s a Toyota only owner thing... personally, I would have bought a Mercedes X Class if they were available in the US (that’s my equivalent since I have an MB owner loyalty bias).

Funny OP got rid of the Tacoma due to a rough ride. Besides being a gas guzzler the Tundra is well know as having the roughest ride of all full size trucks.

Lol, emotional response... not fact based. I’m not a “Found On Road Dead” truck fan, however ALL professional road test and evaluators report otherwise regarding full size trucks (for year after year after year).

I see you respond with an all knowing judgmental response. It is based on past F150 ownership and facts, which is the reason I only buy Toyota now.

Ok... not meaning to apply judgement, my bad. Still not “professional” fact based... rather “appears” opinionated

When you read an article about something like you but no ownership, then it is only second hand information, not first hand information or facts.

Oh wow... now who’s judging? I never said I didn’t own a Ford... you’re “assuming”, which is worst than “judging” IMO. Most reviews are opinions of professionals, and I agree that they are not facts as related to portions of the review. However, many times facts and statistics are provided for comparison purposes. Of course this is an opinionated forum, so have at it and continue the hate...

I guess that was kinda my point. I feel the intent of these type of threads is to say something negative about everyone here’s purchase in a passive-aggressive sort of way. That’s what I think is lame, so it was time for the gloves to come off a little. I had had a couple brews when I wrote that post, so, y’know, apologies all ‘round.

Toyota fans are just used to one driveline configuration like the Tundra offers. It’s rediculously easy to configure a shortbox F150 to tow over 10k pounds and push more payload than a Tundra. You just have to go to the lot with an idea of what you want, similar to buying any truck. A little research goes a long way.

That being said I wonder what people on here think about guys like me that own a F150 and a Tacoma because one is a family cruiser/workhorse and the other is great for off-roading. I wouldn’t want my Tacoma for 6 hour long highway drives similar to how I wouldn’t want to take my F150 on a tight FSR.

Lots of driving experience here, the F150 is a good truck when new and under warranty and they do test well when, wait for it, new. Tacomas with 200000 miles on them drive way better than domestics with lots of miles. Not many high mile domestics that I have driven even compare with Toyotas. All trucks need repairs it's just how much do you want to do.

I have those ideals as well... buy my vehicle(s) for mission related purposes, not brand loyalty. We have a luxury SUV for long distance road traveling... would never consider touring the country with my Tacoma (outside of of dry camping).
