2nd gens are wider so it would be a little narrow, I think the 1st gens take a 60'' box and 2nd gens 63'' box. Tool boxes off of dodge dakotas fit perfect in a 2nd gen...

No prob, just double checked and the measurements I gave are correct so look for a 63'' box off of a 2nd gen Tacoma, dodge dakota or chevy colorado.....

Looks like it will work fine, measure 62'' across your bed and see how well it will sit on the rails....

I have an old Dakota box and it doesn't have/need the angled bottom. A Tacoma box will work in a Dakota, but a Dakota box will not fit a Tacoma because it hits the fender wells.

Yea it probably depends on the box, I traded in a 99 Dakota on my 07 Tacoma. The salesmen told me to get all the stuff of my old truck and sure enough my tool box fit perfectly in my Tacoma. It was not a real deep box though. Oh and the double cab short beds would be a whole dif. story because the wheel wells are so far forward. You just have to try and sometimes they work fine.
