Rough country AAL and 884s

I have been looking into lifting my truck about 2 inches and I found some rough country AALs for 42 bucks brand new from suspension connection and was wondering if any body had some input on them and also I have a chance to buy some 884 coils for the front and they lift 2.25 inches and I wanted to know what you guys think about these springs and this possible combo for a lift

 

Any thoughts? Can i use my stock struts on the 884's and could I use 5100's to lift it even more with the 884's?

 

No, the 5100's are meant to be used with the stock coils. Might be able to get away with them on the 0.85 setting, but certainly no higher.

 

Ok so can the TRD billies hold up on the 884's? I could get TRD billies on here for around 25 bucks and then the 884's for about 60 so 85 is a whole lot better than 180 for new 5100s. What do you think?

 

Pretty sure you need the OME shocks in order to run the OME coils. I'll let someone with furst-hand experience chime in though.

 

Ya the TRD shocks ride like shit with the 884's. Just buy some OME ones

 

What about the Rouch country AAL? Anyone have any thoughts?

 

Would need to see a pic of them. But, usually those kinds of aal are too thick, and have square cut ends with no anti-friction pads (which is hard on the leaf pack).

 

Once I get a front bumper and UCAs I will consider turning the 5100's up to .85. If you never flex out or break in your suspension fully it might be a rough ride for a while. The 884's felt stiff when I first put them on but now that they have broken in have a nice firm ride. Also check out the Wheeler's 3 leaf AAL its the way to go. Just cramming in an extra leaf for lift is doing nothing for the quality of the suspension.

I strongly suggest not using any lift coils with the stock or trd shocks. Use the OME shocks or if you have to the bilstein 5100's at the 0 setting. If not the ride will be shitty. For the rear, with any add-a-leaf or lift leaf pack dont forget longer rear shocks. I skimped on the rear shocks for about six months after my lift and it was a back breaker. just my .02.

 

i have a two inch rough country lift on my 99 taco. the font has blocks that go on top of the coil spring shocks. and has a add a leaf in the rear but the spring looks like its turned over. like the stock toyota over loads. is that right or should i turn it over?

 

If the AAL is angled like the overload, it's upside down.

yea if you look at my pictures i think there are several pictures that you can see it. it almost looks like a traction bar. and also on the front its got the 2.5in lift blocks and one of the shocks is blowed out. do i have to put coil spring shocks back on it or what? Thanks

 

Not seeing any pictures of the leafs in your gallery.

As far as the fronts go, you are lifted with spacers, not blocks.

If one of the shocks is blown, you would just need to replace the shock. The spring assembly should be fine.

 

ok sorry about that. i tryed gettin some pictures up of the leafs but for some reason it aint workin. ill keep tryin but i think your right about that spring bein upside down. cuz it gets stuck in creek banks and stuff. it hangs down.

 

i just put up the picture of the rear leafs. if i flip it over how much will it lift up the truck

 

It should lift it the full 2 inches...it is installed upside down right now and isn't lifting the truck at all.

 

That is a weird looking pack. Looks like there is an AAL in there, and then also a strange large overload. Don't think it would be a good idea to flip that one.

 

ok thanks. the stock over load is busted in half. should i get another one to put in there?
