Has anyone done ceramic coating on their Super White paint finish? Reason l ask, someone that l do business (body shop) with has gone to school for training and is offering me a discounted price on a complete 3 year (paint) coating for my faded 2010 double cab. Also includes windows, moldings, wheels, and headlites. All of this for $500.Seems high to me,but have seen that the price can go as high as $1000.My truck has never been buffed on,just waxed.
Lots of prep work to actually do before the coating goes on.Apparently this is where it really counts to make the job come out looking great.Should take about 10 hours to do it right.
Trying to justify the cost in my mind,l know if l don't do anything in a couple more years the truck will have to be painted.Painting all over is a lot more money and then you have a repainted truck. So far as reselling people alway wonder "why" it was painted. So cost wise it seems like a better plan.
    What's your opinion or experience?

You're correct in that the looks of the coating are/will be dependent on preparation (compound/polishing steps). That's a major part of the cost. Unless you get the paint back to "near new" condition, I'm not sure you'll see the benefits of a coating. That said, if they put in the time to properly restore your paint job, and are able to get good results, then $500 is a heck of a deal for the whole package.

Fair price if including paint correction. If paint is bad I would be surprised if it can be done in 10 hours...cause that is hauling ass to get it down. What ceramic coating is it?

And to be honest, $500 for a paint restoration job like you describe is cheap, even without the coating included.

$500 for just the paint correction seems too cheap unless it's a buddy price.

If you didn't know someone at the shop and were quoted $500 for an exterior detail, correction and a pro grade multi year coating application, run away.

Known him about 20 years,so l don't have any issues with his work.Although he has done just a few ceramic coatings,he has been in the body shop business for a lot longer. He wants to have some under his belt before starting advertising it.

I was meaning if you just went to a random detail shop and that was their price it would be too good. Rereading your OP of what all was quoted to be done it's a steal, jump on it.

Find out what coating brand he's using and we can tell you if it's a good product.

That's a steal OP. Would recommend. Much shine. Ceramic is amazing.

I guarantee you will not be disappointed after it's done.
