Vibrations in the front diff?

 

I don’t know what that means exactly...

 

After you lifted it. Are you getting any funny vibrations in the front end? Just a common problem that I had with my 2nd Gen and I’m wondering if it’s as big an issue with the 3rd Gen lifts. This is usually why people get the ECGS bushing.

Yea, solid bang for the buck. The tires cost $188 each, shocks are like $1200 total, and the rear leaf springs like $600 (can get the medium springs too if you don’t carry much stuff).

And you don’t need new wheels, offsets, Upper control arms, trimming, rubbing problems, etc

 

Awesome simple look. I often go back and forth debating whether to get wheels. I constantly think about issues you've stated, primarily scrub radius.

 

Yea, I wanted a “no worry” build and went with that setup; highly recommend

The digressive Bilstein shocks help a lot with body roll on the road, and I can turn corners quickly even with a large load. Off road medium bumps at medium speeds are soaked up too. But washboards are bumpy :/

 

I'm still on stock suspension. Did you have any reservations for lifting your vehicle? I'm holding off for now, but may be overthinking.

 

So I went camping with my full setup in the rear and was sagging pretty badly. So I added the Dakar heavy leaf springs first, but didn’t realize how much of a lift they were (like 3.5-4 inches without weight) so my rear end was super high up.

So I needed to lift up the front at least two inches and was going to get 5100’s all around. Then I saw the 6112/5160 combo wasn’t THAT much more so I went with those.

However... a 2 inch front and 3 inch rear lift with stock tires wouldn’t look great, and already had trouble with a flat tire last time I went off roading so I went with the KO2’s described.

But yea I guess it depends on “why” you want a lift. Looks vs function and what type of function at that.

If you wanted a super basic lift, Bilstein 5100’s with an add a leaf in the rear is pretty cheap.

Cool just saw your rig. How do you like the 255/85/16? Was considering those as well... they fit well with the bilstein lift?

 

Nice lift .I still debate going this route, but really thinking....for a few extra dollars (it always go that way doesn't it..) I'll do fox fox coilovers. I over road, but not heavy. My setup is meant to be comfortable for family, capable for MOST anywhere, and durable. I thought about going "all out" with Kings, but the places beyond my windshield likely won't require it...nice lift, looks great!!!

 

Ya... it’s tough to know when to stop! I wanted fully digressive shocks though so I went with these, really help with body roll!!!

Consider icon stage 2 though for on road comfort. They’re linear compression and digressive extension. Should therefore make for a soft ride that still helps with body roll. I think fox shocks are fully progressive.

 

Im on the fence with 255/85 tires, I think it is more the tire choice though. I chose BFG KM2s for some reason. Looking back I should have gone with the cooper ST Maxx tires. They do rub! But only when I take it off-road. They rub pretty bad when I take the swaybar off. They hit in three different spots. The top of the wheel well, cab mount and on one side only the rear fender. I used to have 265/75r16 falken wildpeaks. They did everything that I asked of them and much more comfortable all around. I might try 255/85 ST MAXX or maybe try 285s in the BFG KO2s but won't do KM2s ever again. I would sell them off to anyone interested Located in Idaho, low miles, 600 bucks

 

How does the ride compare to the stock suspension?

 

Much better on and off road. That being said they’re digressive shocks and they come with everything that comes with that.

On road. Smooth but yes firm. They really shine when you’re turning a corner and help prevent body roll. You feel less like a boat.

Off road. So pot holes and medium bumps at medium speeds are soaked up well and not harsh and you truck feels in control (so medium and low speed trails are great). Only downside is if you’re on washboard or gravel, it’s pretty bumpy. But more or less similar to stock in that regard. If you plan on speeding in the desert, probably not for you.
