Does anyone know how to disable the radar cruise control on a 2018 Tacoma trd sport?

You have to do it every time, but if you press and hold the cruise control button on the stalk for about 2-3 seconds, it disables the radar and is old school cruise control. You should see the little light change.

The adaptive cruise works so well, why would anyone want to use cruise without it?

Yeah I hate it. If prevents you from coming up behind a car fast, so they get the message to get outta the way.

I thought I would hate it too. I learned the override trick and did it old school at first. I tried it once with the adaptive and now I use it most of the time.

Can I set the adaptive distance?

Maybe to like a foot or two? No Seriously though is it settable?

Probably should just look it up but I'm forum lazy tonight lol

It's easy to override by just pressing down on the gas as you approach another car. You will feel it fight you a little bit though.

Really hate when functions like this don't stay in the setting you left them in. Same crap with sporty cars defaulting to "comfort mode".

I love people who come up fast on me. Especially if I’m doing the speed limit or slightly over.

I’ll happily drop down 5-10 miles per hour.

Last week I was coming home on the interstate. Not too much traffic at that time and some little civic comes running up behind me real quick. I was set at 4 over and he was gaining fast. I moved over and said to myself, he will get caught someday. Sure enough a few minutes later I catch back up to him, but this time he is on the side of the road with flashing lights behind him.

I agree. However, the lane guidance will stay off on the next drive if I turn it off... So why not everything else.

I see... Not familiar with the details of the new Tacoma safety systems since my 2017 doesn't have any. I do however wish that dang ECT button would stay on! I imagine there's some kind of regulation that makes cars required to start up in their safe & fuel efficient setting.

There are a few settings you can change with techstream. You can have it remember the pre collision system last settings. I don't remember seeing anything for cruise/adaptive cruise or adaptive cruise distance.

My commute is a single lane road. I’m not going to speed up because someone behind me wants me to. And if they’re mad I’m going the speed limit, I’ll go slower.
