I wanna remove the air dam valance from my front bumper on my TRD Sport. any adverse effects of doing so? is it hard to take off and out back on? I just think the truck would look better without it.

No adverse affects and it should take about 10 min max using a 10mm socket. I agree definitely looks better without it. Mine came without it or that would have been my first mod :D

Possibly mpg decreases but nothing too significant I would imagine

Some have said it's a 1 mpg loss. I'll take that over having the air dam on the front of the truck.

    Like, so many.
Takes about 5 minutes to remove.
Then you’ll need to get an OR tow hook and paint that bad boy.

Gotcha. I see these on a lot of trucks lately, seems like they would interfere with offroading. Assume that's why you want it gone, OP?

Oh it’ll definitely scrape. That’s why most folks remove them.

I have never off-roaded but recently been thinking of giving it a try. I just personally think the thing looks like shit on the front of the truck. I would probably need to remove my mud guards to off-road as well? but right now I like them being on there.

is the OR tow hook different than they one on the Sport? I have never paid any attention to that.

Only reason it's there is to meet cafe mpg requirements. Sure as hell there not for looks.

    Work in progress...
I took mine off and lost about 1mpg. I was taking a trip back to the midwest over Thanksgiving and thought I would put it back on just for the 2200 mile, round, trip. I put two screws in it to see how it looked. Notta, that thing is back in the overhead...

On my stock height sport, I like the way it looks. Added plus of mpgs. In 5 years when I go lift crazy I will remove it for clearance. It all depends on how you use the truck

Is the EPA rating between Tacoma's with and without them any different? I cant imagine that ugly ass thing hanging down makes much of a difference.

I took mine off the same day I got new tires. Between going from 245/75R16s to 265/70R16s and removing the air dam, I might have lost 1mpg. Still averaging 19mpg with wider tires and the air dam removed.
