What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Finished up my tire carrier it’s not perfect but it works for me

 

I have poly mounts and love them but they probably aren't for you. Just get some stockers. The 4cyl has some goody harmonics at slow speeds so with any mount they won't be perfect, with the poly you don't feel the engine at idle but it sorta buzzes at higher rpm and with rubber you feel the slow speed stuff but the higher rpm is quiet and smooth

 

Should I bother with OEM or is aftermarket okay?

 

My old trans mount when I got the truck on the right, new one on the left. The new one initially had more vibes but I have either gotten used to them or the new trans mount has "broken in" after several hundred miles and is smooth as a stock replacement mount would be but 10x stronger. It uses poly leaf spring bushings so that if I need to replace them, I don't need a complete new mount, just the bushings. Way easier and cheaper. I doubt I'll have to replace them tho.

The anchor brand on rock auto is usually decent, just look at part numbers, if the different brands share a part number buy the cheaper ones haha. Your engine mounts are the same part and your trans mount should be fairly cheap given how common the a340 is

That’s hawt, basically how I want mine but my bed sides cut off even with my tailgate, if that’s an option.

I’ll shop around. If OEM is drastically more expensive then I’ll go for the aftermarket.

Tranny mount is cheap from what I’ve seen.

They don't have one for the auto, not sure who does actually. Just checked Marlin and they don't list one either.

 

Just NBR and some metal, Tacoma mounts are simple sandwich types haha. The fancy hydraulic ones on my Z I'd think about going OEM for but the taco I dunno I'd probably just go with anchor if you aren't doing poly.

 

I’d totally do Poly, I just hate these vibes at Idle.

 

I don't think you'd like it, it improves the feel a lot but it vibrates a different way. Just make it feel like it isn't storing it's torque in the mounts and putting it to the ground instead. The OEM mounts are $52 each BTW, don't mix poly and rubber. If you do a poly engine mount do a poly trans and vice versa or you risk stressing the mounting points on the poly one because it'll flex less than the rubber.

 

What tranny mount would you pair with the bomb proof engine mounts ?
