Your motor mounts are probably A-OK at only 100k. The sketchy trans mount is probabbly more likely to be the culprit. Id just go to Napa and get their brand if it were me.

The FROR tcase crossmember is what I use. That scenario is at least less likely to be a problem than if you had rubber engine mounts and a poly trans mount. I think @MadTaco461 knows of a guy making mounts for the W59 though, or maybe it was @Dalandser. You can also do what the crawler guys do and weld a chain to it. But as long as your center bolt is still in the mount it is at least movent restricted radially so it shouldn't fail in grand fashion or anything.

Yeah I’ll probably do the transmission mount before the engine mounts. The rubber seemed fine when I installed it but who knows.

Could just be that you have a four cyl. Also did you check that intake pipe ever for where I pointed out that it was rubbing?

    Never did, completely forgot.

I don’t remember my truck vibrating this much when it was 2WD. It could also be the sketchy transmission I used too. The ATF I pulled from it was this color:

    91052160-EECD-4D4D-A1A0-315BA2A4B0FE.jpg

90% sure the donor truck was in a front end crash. That’s why my torque converter was warped and caused my flexplate to implode like it did.

Transmissions don't just vibe cause they're dirty, there would be major mechanical failure if it was vibing as much as you're describing. Like tc out of round, or 1/2 band brake broken

I imagine your truck sits in the parking deck a lot since you live on campus, right? If I let my 3RZ or my 22RE sit for an extended time, they will shake like crazy upon startup. Give it some gas, and warm them up a bit and they smooth out.

Or is yours an all the time issue?

I was naive and didn’t know any better. This was almost three years ago. I went into that swap not knowing the difference between 2HI, 4HI, and 4LO.

The torque converter there was no way of knowing if it was broken unless you used a runout gauge. Even the transmission shop I brought it to made the same mistake, since the flexplate broke again AS I was driving out of the shop.

The fluid was my own fault. I never thought to check the color.

I drive it all the time. Even when I used it to commute everyday it would happen.

I noticed this stated when I completed my 4WD swap. It could be the transmission, the mounts, or who knows what. I don’t remember this happening when I was 2WD.

Yeah that was @MadTaco461 - I had shown you that pic of a solid mount for an auto that goes with a 2.7.

Start with the mount. Just stick a prybar under it first to test. It should have some play, like a 1/2" or so.

    @JKO1998

That’s CAI is like fast food. You know it’s bad for you, but you keep going back because you like it and it’s good.

For me it’s the sound. What a beautiful sound that CAI makes.

@Bonzen makes the best motor mounts you can get. Though I don't think he dose the auto tranny I can't remember.

@BartMaster1234 the vibes caused by poly mounts are nothing compared to bad mounts. The torque transfer is also so worth it. You won't even notice the vibes really.

To those that think motor mounts don't break you're wrong. It happens plenty. My sx has bad motor mounts and the vibes are horrible.

Thanks for the info, do you suggest I go for the bomb proof ones or just OEM replacements?

Not saying they dont break, just at 100k its unlikely. My 22Re is nearing 200k and its mounts are still solid.
