Ive noticed here, as well as everywhere else, some people doing builds that forever alter their vehicle throwing caution to the wind. I’m a huge fan of good builds, clean builds, where people don’t do crazy alterations to their vehicle to make something “fit” or “work right.” Whereas I’m pro-“to each their own”, I’m looking to find people who have built their truck without cutting body panels, welding, or drilling unnecessary holes that are visible (like the fucking dash you crazies). Also not a fan of wheel spacers regardless of how “bulletproof” they are. In my opinion, attention to detail and precision make for excellent builds. Just because people won’t see it, if you know it could be better, do it to the best of your ability at that time, then go do it better again.

Your philosophies are conflicting, that must be a hell of a inner monologue haha

Not at all. I’ll explain. I like good clean builds personally, but I am a subscriber to the notion that people can do whatever they want. For myself however, if things aren’t done as well as they can be, it’s wrong. I hold myself to a standard, not others. I don’t see the conflict there, but if I’ve missed something I can explain further.

To add; my inner monologue is horrific to put it mildly.

Well, I’ve chopped my front bumper cover to install an ARB bull bar, CMC to fit larger tires and will be installing a snorkel soon. Although all these things alter the vehicle, they’ve been done “right” and I’m happy with it... the only thing that’s really “irreversible” is the CMC but no one can even tell it’s done.

I don't believe in universal right and wrongs. Especially when is comes to something as personal as a vehicle. I don't do things that are dangerous or will break. But I hacked off a good portion of my front end to get my bumper how I liked it. Is it the most pretty, no, is it built like a brick shithouse, fuck yeah and it's been to places most folks won't go. I cut and welded my rear shocks mounts to get the proper fit and travel, is it beautiful, no, is it strong and comfortable to ride in, hell yeah. Universal's just don't work well in life, diversity is too great.

Not unreasonable, I’m sure it looks damn good. The rear bumper where people have to cut the bed, that’s horrific. A bumper cover can be had easily, so no harm there. The reason I’m against spacers is solely because I’ve seen some go bad an they almost always damage something. Too much risk and not enough reward for my taste.

That's what you gotta do when your ass is as saggy as a tacos, even the first gens hang too damn low. Looks good once the bumper is on.

Nothing wrong with any of what you did, it’s personal as you stated. Again, my personal taste for myself is quite specific, but also as previously stated, I support “to each their own”. My right isn't factual for the world, only for me. I’m not some self righteous cunt who pushes my shit on others, just stating my personal preference and looking for the like minded to toss ideas around. Nothing philosophical there, don’t read that deep into it.

The body design is saggy, hangs too far below the frame rails. Lift is the enemy of stability. Keeping it low with decent travel helps with the comfort too.

What can I say, my junk is functional. It's a Mish mash of my previous rolled over truck and a shell I bought for a couple Grand. I learned a few things from the first one.
