Obviously the stock jack wont work now that I have put the toytec ulk and my 33s on my taco. What do you guys use for an on-board jack in case you get a flat on the road?

I'm guessing I'll need a 22" or higher bottle jack. What do you guys use? Link?

    Thanks for the help! :D

When you are lifting to change the tire, lift off of the lower UCA or the axle. If you must 'jack off' a slider, use a ratchet strap and compress the spring to hold and then 'jack off' the slider. You don't need a 22" bottle jack.

If you lift the back of the truck off of the axel with a bottle jack, MAKE DARN SURE you chock the front tires. Very dangerous IMO, but I'm just a dumb engineer so what do I know... :D

Good Point - should go without saying anytime you jack up a car regardless of axle - chock the opposite wheel. Also, I always keep a piece of 2x4 handy for the top of the jack to compress into what ever I am jacking. I also keep a square peice of 3/4" plywood for a jacking base. I was educated as a rocket scientist but what does that have to with Jacking? ;)

let's say you lifted your truck 6 inches - the lowest part of your truck is still the lower control arm and the axles. They have not been lifted.

I carry a bottle jack and a hi lift - the high lift is just a great all-around tool but most people will never need one if they are just changing tires.

When you lift from the body (sliders, rocker panels, etc) you are jacking the truck a lot more than you would have to lift it, and you are risking more problems. If you can not lift from lower control arm or the axle, then you can compress the spring so that when you do lift the body (rock slider, etc), you are only lifting the truck as much as is required to lift the wheel an inch or two off the ground verses lifting the truck through the amount of spring travel (5-6 inches) and then the tire coming off the ground an inch or so.

Here is a picture of a jeeper doing what I am talking about... although I would do it with a good ratchet strap instead of the POS he is using.

Just MO but you won't be able to fit those monster's under your truck in most cases - I have this: It works fine with block of wood and a plywood base.

One other point, I have been taught to store jacks with the valve open so that the seal for that valve doesn't loose it's elasticity.

If you are not offroading, you don't need a high lift or other type of specialty jack. Just keep you stock bottle jack and stow a couple squares of 2x6 in with the jack under the back seat. The squares of 2x6 placed under the stock bottle jack will take up the 3" of additional height from your lift. Use as you would on a stock truck to jack up from the front LCA or the rear axle.

About the only place you can use a hi-lift on a tacoma is inside the rear receiver hitch - if you have a hitch. DO NOT use the hi-lift on your tube steps - the tube steps can't handle the weight and might collapse.

Or, you can buy hi-lift accessories:
    Lift mate

    Bumper lift
