Big Horn? Guessing it's a good steak House judging by the name?
Vacaville is expensive comparatively. Our housing allowance did just go up, but it still isn't great. We are looking at private schools anyway. So it'll either be Sac, Dixon, Woodland or south east of Vacaville.
Wife is from a smaller town. I think we'd be ok. Plus I imagine she could find a higher paying job south towards the Bay as a nurse?

Rio isn’t bad, like mentioned before it’s a small town with one small store. There PD had a big shake up a couple years ago because the Chief was nailing all the women that worked there. The new Chief is a former Sac SO Captain, I’ve heard good thing. They do have crime, meth, burgs, etc. lots of stuff moving through Rio because it’s on 12 between Stockton and Fairfield.

Hwy 12 sucks, lost a buddy that was a cop on 12 some kid showing off crossed the double yellow and took him head on, killed David. If there is an accident on 12 it’s usually pretty significant and traffic is fucked for a while. My wife is a dispatcher for the Sheriffs Office and the have the contract for RVPD, so I hear all the BS. The do have the bass derby in Oct, which is pretty cool. Decent fishing if that’s your thing and Hastings island pheasant club is just outside of town. Are you looking to raise a family there and stay there permanently? Or just stay for a short time?

I've got 4 left on the Air Force. Likely spend the next 4 in Cali, and maybe one extra to get the veterans benefits for the kids. Trying to find decently priced houses close to Travis is proving a hassle.

The veteran benefits were so helpful for me when I went to college. My dad was in Vietnam and medically discharged due to shrapnel. Allowed me to walk away from a 4 year degree with zero debt.

Any recommendations for a tire shop just south of the city? I might be hoping too much, but was trying to find a place that has some BFG KO2’s in stock (nothing crazy, just 265/65/17).

    Thanks!

I work just down the road for TAFB and your chances of finding a decent priced place is slim. I moved 2 counties away (mostly because fuck Solano and Yolo counties) about 45 minutes to work for decent priced homes. Rio Vista was never a consideration because 12 is a bad Hwy. The crime in Vacaville is getting bad and going to get worse, there are just to many people (my opinion) and with the criminal element being priced out of the Bay Area, they are moving into Solano County because it’s “cheaper”. Are you looking to rent or buy something?

The plan is to rent as I am hearing there might be a bubble coming to an end in the area. We had thought about buying, but don't think that'll work now. Only reason for Rio was the new homes for sale that are in a closer price range to what I want.

Sacramento is on the list. 45-50 minutes to the base? Eh. I did it before.

Well, based on Elkhitmans opinion (and I don't disagree. As for Hwy 12, it does suck, unless you ride a motorcycle) maybe Rio Vista is out. I did see the new construction out near Hastings Island, on my way to shoot some birds. I have a friend who lives in Dixon. I could ask him about that area. Did you look at Cordelia? I think you mentioned once before that Winters was pricey, as well. The housing market bubble doesn't effect the Bay Area as much as the rest of the country, supply and demand being what it is for us.

Got great news just now! My girl interviewed for a higher manager position last week. She just found out she got the job :) it requires us to move from Visalia to aturlock, but at least the company is paying for the move and everything. Not sure when this will be happening yet. Sucks I won't be working at Valley Offroad here in Visalia anymore though :( here's a pic just cause
