You mentioned that before, and I made a mental note of it. Good idea, I'll have to look into doing that.

...and a heck-of-a-lot cheaper than the mounted folding step, which I'm not sure I could use anyway because I have left AND right tailpipes.

Just under 15k miles on the truck and took it to the dealer this morning. I believed I was having some trans issue on the downshift (AT) under braking occasionally. With all the TSB chatter I asked them to check it out. Instead of jumping the gun,I was letting the computer “learn” you might say.
They couldn’t replicate the “clunk” and did some diagnostic and relearn procedure on the trans. When they were testing their work my issue raised its head. NONE of the U bolts were tight or torqued. They went ahead and torqued the whole suspension while in the shop.
At least it should be good until I get that suspension upgrade!

Send the kid over after she has the tree up. I've got headlights to install and I could use a small pair of hands.

Isn't there a circuit for an optional bed light (in place of, or in addition to, the third brake light)? That would probably be on a timer.

...or is this another one of those things whose workings I don't understand?

That is something us access cabbers did not get. No 3rd brake bed light combo and no switch. Why ? Also I can tell you @mattgecko sells a quality product. Roughly 2 years on my under hood and toolbox light kits. Work flawlessly.

That is exactly where I have mine wired. just like the cab mounted light they are on and off via the doors, fade to black after locking, and stay on if you switch to the on position.

In the "On" position, do the lights shut off after some number of minutes?

    The switch has 3 positions
No in the ON position they are ON.
In the DOOR position they are on when the door opens and fade off as the dome does.

Same behavior you get from the dome & map lights, Off/Door/ON
