Really thinking about adding the Cobra version to my setup. Always seems like I have 1 random guy that refuses to to admit that CB isn't the greatest thing known to man, despite not being able to hear him from across a large parking lot. Plus more antennas = better :D

I always piss someone off when I joke that if everyone is running CB I'll just hold my head on the window and yell.

Got a big mag antenna hooked it all up. Oh my the hiss. Haha. It's been since high school since I ran CB

If you want to get really crazy you can probably get an HF radio and use that for CB+expanded. I would assume that you would be WAY over approved power levels though.

Really just need the CB on the driver side hinge mount I have. And maybe a 3rd vehicle HAM antenna for dedicated HT and APRS use...

Looking like some Centra Spike rig parked out in the desert.

For those of you 2nd Gen who have your antenna mounted on a bed rail, where did you run the co ax thru into your truck?

(I did a search but didn't come up with the answer...I will admit to not reading all 49 pages of this thread, I apologize if this question is redundant)

Thanks but I already have the antenna mount itself, I was looking for suggestions on how to get the cable from the outside of the truck to the inside of the truck...or from the inside to the out side...lol

On the passenger side, on the floorboard, closer to the seat, there is a rubber boot you can pass through. I have a 3rd gen but I bet you there is one on the 2nd gen too. Crawl under your truck and look for a rubber boot/nipple type thing. I poked a hole and have a few wires ran through it.

I dont have pictures yet, but I think mine will be pretty clean when its all done.

Im using a hidden "control box" so you only see the handheld. It plugs into a rj45 jack in a factory switch. The antenna is power up/down so I can lower it when not using the radio.

Hopefully this weekend Ill have something up. My power antenna is showing up today, and my rj45 switch is coming in thursday.

Those should be quick installs, the CB and antenna cable are already installed.

Got a few pictures ready for this weekends install.

Here is my switch blank for the handset. I only had a blue one handy, but will pick up some black ones Friday.

    You should post bigger pictures.

But in case you don't like billboard-sized pictures, you can add an "s," "m," or "l" (lowercase) at the end of the imgur link to change the size of the picture.

Nice! With this, would you be able to add as a bank to plug in a handset, say in a remote area of the cab? I have the controller for my Yeasu FTM-400XDR in my glove box and would like to route my handset to the left side of my steering wheel.
