I was shopping for the Pro but ended up with a 2019 OR + Tech+ Premium which comes with Leather, sunroof, JBL, all tech stuff. The cheapest PRO at the time was 2018 ( no sunroof, no JBL) for around $44.5K. I bought my 19 OR for $36.5K in a color I really wanted. That's $8K in saving or play money. If I were to buy 19 PRO the spread would've been even bigger, around $11K. I will modify my OR (nothing crazy) by adding wheels/tires, grille, HIDs, possibly FOX shocks if I can find a good deal, but that's later. Right now I am enjoying my OR and $11K in upgrade money (if I choose to) in the bank. Don't get me wrong I really like the PRO, just not it's price tag. There is nothing in the PRO that can not be ordered or added to an OR, plus you get to choose your color which worth more to me than other cosmetics, IMO.

I find it funny that everyone hates on the Pro. It, of course, could be better (front locker/better tires), but it's a factory prepped beast with warranty that's ready to rock out the door. The price is in line with what GM and Ford charge for their entrants in this market segment but with the reliability and resale value you expect from Toyota. Personally, I'm done with the headache-inducing money vampire that is the mod bug, that stage in my life is over. For me it was a clear choice because I value my time more than buying and installing parts. Plus it frees up more time/cash to play bikes and go explore places. Get in and drive the balls off of it.

Agreed. But I gave up in my market, when I was quoted 55k for a Pro. F that!

I paid $49k for mine. It had a little markup but they wanted $52 and I said no way. They came down.

Jesus, I paid $36.5k for my DCLB OR. Even with all my mods I'm probably still under $42K

Here is an OR built similar to the PRO. It is only $5k and change cheaper

Jesus I paid 41,500 for my pro and I thought I paid a lot for a midsize truck. That said it’s leaps and bounds nicer then my modded 2nd gen was. Turn key and go, no modding, no wasted time. At the end of day buy what is going to make you happy, who cares what other people think, it’s your truck!

That is true but you can also negotiate quite a bit off the OR whereas you are most likely gonna have to pay MSRP or higher for the Pro.

The life of a TRD OR/Sport owner....

Negotiate what you got your OR for. Register an account on TW. Justify your purchase, and complain to Pro owners on how they got ripped off.

Trd Pro it is what nearly every Tacoma OR tries to copy and never wants to admit that it just costed more than a Trd Pro would have in the first place ..... Sorry OR guys love ya all but I am entitled to express my opinions and observations after seeing how much it would cost to make an OR look the same as a Trd Pro but still not a Trd Pro that is why I went with a Trd Pro <------ Lets see how many more times I can slip the words Trd Pro in ...... and get away with it before someone blasts me for Saying Trd Pro..

The Pro is just an OR with a few more bolt ons with less color choices, bed length options and cab configurations. Performance wise you have the same engine, locker and brakes.

Remind me again how that justifies an $8-10K premium?
