Try some GE Megalight Ultra +130s as recommended and reviewed on this thread

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/headlight-upgrade-2017-trd.575174/

I've had them in for almost 3 weeks and have ~20hrs of driving in the dark with them and will be buying a replacement set when these burn out. Huge difference between the +130s and the LEDs they replaced

Also did GE megalight ultra 130. Really nice improvement and it takes about a minute to switch out the bulbs. 34.99 for the pair delivered.

I did the H9 swap last month. It only took $30 and 20 minutes. The vehicle wiring and headlight housing remains stock. IMO they it look much better than LEDs or HIDs in the stock projector. I'm very happy with the results.

Silverstar Ultras have always treated me well. They are bright and project further than factory but do not blind oncoming traffic. A lot of the LED/HID/MAX kits are blinding to other drivers. It takes a special breed of stupid a$$hole to install lights so bright that one would blind everyone else so they could have 'extreme' brightness. Whatever you get, just make sure they are DOT approved and not 'off road use only' garbage.

Not true at all, our trucks have projector housings and clean cutoff of light using HID, LED or Halogen bulbs. I’ve had my HID low beams in for 3-4 months and never had anyone flash me.

I'm not calling you guys out in particular. Chances are if the lights are DOT approved, they shouldn't degrade the vision of oncoming traffic. And obviously not all 'upgrade' kits are made equally; yours look like they have great projection without excessive intensity. I'm mostly aiming at the 'brightness at all costs' crowd. Of course, this all pales in comparison to the average Chevy truck/SUV driver constantly running their high beams for no reason... Bunch of savages...

Side note: I got plenty of flashes when I replaced my factory FJ bulbs with the Silverstars, so you never know. I actually had to adjust the beam downward some.

I am going with the Sylvania Ultra at $45 a set
I can order online for cheaper those philips or whatever and still pay the same $ with shipping.
What am doing is putting an upgrade in my truck to see if I am pleased then I will add the m to my wife’s
IMO anything is probably better than the basic stock light

I've tried the Silverstars before and barely got a year out of them. This was a few years ago, maybe they are better now.

@crashnburn80 has some threads on this subject and will also recommend some halogen bulbs that will meet your needs and be appropriate for our projectors.

"Not true at all, our trucks have projector housings and clean cutoff of light using HID, LED or Halogen bulbs. I’ve had my HID low beams in for 3-4 months and never had anyone flash me."

Clean cutoff means practically nothing. It's there to make aiming easier and more accurate and is of some help in fog, actually more so than most fog lamps themselves. These projector housings simply were not designed for LED or HID. LEDs fit but most are shown to be less effective that the best halogen bulbs and often have quality control or other issues. HIDs are brighter and retain the hot spot at the top center of the beam pattern which the LEDs don't, but often overlight the foreground because the reflectors were not designed with them in mind. And not being flashed means absolutely nothing. Not a metric of any kind. Brighter by itself is rarely better. Automotive headlights are designed to very specific design objectives and putting the wrong bulb in may make you think you're safer but too often you're not. A lot of the aftermarket kits create over the legal allowable glare and overlight the foreground, so you're blinding the oncoming traffic and limiting your distance perception.

Assuming you have normal or nearly normal night vision (and with most of us that deteriorates with age) you shouldn't need anything more than an upgraded halogen. But don't judge the effectiveness of your lights in the city or anywhere there is a lot of ambient lighting. Get out in the country on a dark road and let your eyes acclimate to that level of lighting and you'll be surprised at just how good these lights really are, without having to make them unsafe and illegal. And, no, the Department of Transportation does not approve bulbs even though that's a common marketing ploy.

Did the GE Megalight Ultra 130+ for low beams and fogs and PIAA Hyper Arros H9 for high beams; huge improvement! Ordered from PowerBulbs and were here within the week.

Been down the HID and LED road and have found they look really impressive, but really good halogens (ie not available in US!) are far better performers. I live in the country and rely on good performing lights. In the city, probably not that critical.

OP, I know this isn't most of the people on here's thing but I replaced the highs/lows and fogs with LED Bulbs from Beamtech. yes they are inexpensive, about $36 a pair on Amazon and I think eBay is cheaper. but, I am like you, I didn't want to do anything except unplug the halogen and plug up something else. I have run these bulbs in 2 other vehicles before my Taco and I will swear by them. way better than stock! I am sure there are some HID kits that are better, even some LED kits/bulbs that are better. but I like the Beamtechs just fine. they work well for me.https://www.amazon.com/BEAMTECH-Hea...=8-3&keywords=beamtech+h11+led+headlight+bulb
