not much help here, but I will say this.

we've got the Michelin X-Ice on the Subaru and I like them.
I've got the BFG KO2's on the truck, and I like them for snow. Had a scare with them on pure ice last week tho. That snowfall that happened middle of the day, by the time I went home it was all hard packed, and it had just turned to rain. I was traveling very slow in traffic and hit the brakes as usual. Nothing. Truck kept moving like I missed the break pedal. ABS was working its magic, but that wasn't helping. Thank goodness I had enough room between me and the other vehicle. In all honesty, that situation with the hard pack and rain, I'm not sure if *any* winter tire would have helped. I would have loved to do some testing ( my winter rated AT's VS the dedicated X-Ice on the other car ) but at that point I was just glad to make it home and not be one of the fender benders I kept hearing about on the radio.

Devils Advocate: keep in mind that 265/70/16 are *just* about the same size as the 245's with the exception of being about an inch wider. So that may open up some options for you while shopping ( )

I've got General Grabber ATX's and they're amazing in the snow. Winter duty rated, studable, but also able to be run all year round.

Took me 647km today to go pay for my next college course at NSCC Port Hawkesbury, Then to Capstick (next to Bay St.Lawrence) and back to Sydney without a single worry, the trip up to Capstick was near white-out conditions, and I only had to use 4x4 to get through the 3ft deep snow at the end of the driveway

I had KO2's (265/70R16 P-rated) the first winter with my truck and they performed great on snow (In 4hi on the highway I could easily do the speed limit in a major snowstorm) and they did ok on slippery surfaces. The next winter they were still good in snow in 4hi, but they we very scary when on anything slick or icy. So I decided to keep them as summer tires.
I ended up going with Toyo Open Country AT-2's (265/70R16 P-rated) and used them through a winter and was happy with their performance. Nothing note worthy, but I could recommend them as a winter tire (Has Snowflake emblem)

This past year I got General Grabber AT-2's (235/80R16 E-rated) as a set of 5 tires, and have ran them last summer then winter and was extremely happy with how they performed. They can be studded if you choose to dedicate them to winter which would make them unstoppable with studs.

I decided to make them my all-year tire so no change-overs each season, and they are holding up great.

**My uneducated review, your experience may vary haha**

Man I really appreciate the offer but I'm not sure I can swing it next week. Also, I might try and convince my friend to let me do it in his heated garage.

That was taken at a spot called Hobart's Beach. There is a spot from the parking lot to drive down onto the mainly rocky beach.
It is west facing so it is amazing for watching sunsets!
Blue line is the roads to get there, red dot is the spot

Right off the parking lot is sandy beach that can be a nice spot for a bonfire

I decided to air down my tires and drive along the beach (First time airing down as I just bought a portable compressor, and the tide was on its way out and I kept close to the mainland, so I was good for tide timing)

This is where I parked and watched the sunset, this was taken with my phone looking through binoculars haha (Was a Canada day adventure, found this spot totally random!)

Bonus, tried my hand at balancing rocks haha

I'm a big winter tire guy. Just so much safer. I had a 90 degree back and fourth scare one year with the KOs and never looked back. Nothing but winters work on ice

    Hmm coffee... or wings...

As for winter tires, the stock good years on my 3rd gen are great in snow, and good in the woods in snow, but scary as hell on ice. I almost put it in the ditch twice a few weeks back after some snow/freezing rain fun. I mostly work from home, and don't have to be driving in shitty conditions so will be keeping them on through the winter.

My next set of tires i want to be acceptable in winter, but I don't want a dedicated winter tire. I will most likely go with KO2's. Would like to find them in a C rating, as E is pretty heavy and stiff.

Got out hunting on the weekend up behind Brookfield. Lots of fun on the snow covered logging roads, and got into some sketchy spots. Actually used 4lo and the locked diff for the first time, after breaking through some ice on a deep puddle. I should have taken some video of that, it was much more exciting then this little puddle.

    Hopefully the video link works...

No, it was to warm, nothing was moving. It was more of a way to avoid going to the malls with the wife then anything.

    Wow...

I was going to post that I had put in an offer on a house, but I already got the answer that they accepted the offer within an hour..

I am going to be a home owner!!

The house will need a lot of sweat equity put into it :curls:, but the price was good for the area and I want to spend money on house reno's more than truck mods (Sorry fella's haha)
