    I have a "build" thread here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/amanelots-boring-build.580417/

Slow is good when it comes to an investment like a vehicle. I went headstrong into a race suspension for my car years ago. It was beyond stupid for a daily driver. It literally knocked the breath out of me once due to garbage roads and a stupid idea of race suspension. $4k in suspension that I got to watch come undone over the next couple of years. Also was launched into the headliner numerous times. Hilarious to look back on. Still have that car, but the amount of time and work to fix it is going to be massive, so she sits patiently. I am taking my time on my bike though. I’ve had it for almost two years and it’s almost done. Just odds and ends left. Taking my time to get things exactly how I want saves me time and money.

I think I must have come into this thread after you changed it, because I could not understand why everyone was so upset about you not wanting to cut your truck up.

I’m with you, this is my first off-road vehicle and I’d like to go the bolt on route before making any permanent decisions.

Thanks for making the thread, I’ll be following to see what others have done.

You can’t re align the drive train components. Either your cv’s are gonna stress or your driveshafts are gonna stress. Example- you could drop bracket, solve your cv angles, but then your forward propeller shaft is gonna feel it. It’s totally workable, but it depends on what you consider a solid off road vehicle. Ideally, to me, you want the whole of your suspension and drive train working together with the least amount of stress. Otherwise you may as well break out the bender and welder, because you’re gonna need to re do everything to get your entire system back in that zen flow that you have now. If you can manage a 1” lift with bigger tires and bolt on sliders, I would consider that the “Golden” zone, without hacking up the truck.

Interesting. Doing a lift with cv’s is a new area to me. This is pretty helpful. Can’t say I’ve seen a 1” suspension kit before, nor does it seem to have much benefit over stock at that point. What are your thoughts?

How would you accomplish the lift?

Well. I don’t always turd. Sometimes I science. My truck is not everyone’s cup of tea, and a lot of my favorite posters on here run some baller ass builds. But I did that with my first gen, and it’s miserable to drive. I hacked into it TOO much because once you start, you have to retrofit and retrofit and retrofit...
    But this truck-
    7AEDCF01-56CB-4195-B94B-AC11371C882C.jpg
Is simply tires and toytec 1/2” spacers. It’s certainly not baller, but right out of the gate the driveline is solid, and the travel is as the infallible holy Toyota engineers designed it. I am comfortable pushing this thing off road because there are no unintended faults with a higher lift and flexed out drivelines. It just works.

It’s my first sport bike. It’s been fun, but going fast got old. I haven’t maxed it out since doing the performance parts, but it is a goal for this coming year. It’s weird; takes off like a rocket in first through 5th, but top speed is an issue due to lack of fairings. I’ve only seen 150+ once, but that was before finishing the performance parts. I just want to hit a run of 165 with gps once, then I’ll be done with the build. She drinks gas like a lush though. 4.5 gallon tank will empty around 96 miles.

Toytec 1/2” spacer yield 1” up front without terrorizing the driveline angles or jamming up the travel on factory shocks. It’s the smart mans hockey puck.

I don’t tow or haul, I camp and off road and ride mtb.

One example of a small lift would be bilstein 5100 shocks with ome 884 coils. That wouldn’t give much lift but would ride smoother. Another option is an adjustable coilover such as Kings and just mess with the preload to get what you want.

I love all bikes, but I cant trust myself with a sports bike. I'm a Harley guy, but not forever. Hoping to move into a adventure bike in next 5-10 years. Triumph, Yamaha, and BMW are on my list of bikes to test
