Success! Finally! After more work and time than I care to admit I finally got my card to work. I even gave up yesterday and tried a locksmith, but was told that it was dealer only.

I ended up finding an XP laptop in my basement (ever seen a laptop with a 3.5" floppy drive?). Marrying into a family of hoarders finally paid off! My original software did not have drivers for the cable, and my techstream lacked the needed utility button for some reason. Downloading an older version fixed that.

I still need to wipe my keys and do it over, but i'm going to enjoy my victory for the time being.

Thanks to all the posters who helped me.

Good to hear. (Not that I did any good).
Now you can do other fun stuff too. Like change settings in techstream (all 3 of them) and log pretty much every ECU parameter..

Wait that is almost useless to nearly everyone.. oh well (in some ways it is actually pretty cool)

    You helped.
That's all you can hope for from a forum when you need it like I did.

I have carista and already have made adjustments to stuff like the number of blinks on the soft touch. Is there anything TS does that I should look into?

Nothing that carista can't do (from my recollection). Really using it to log data was the primary usefullness...

Had my new Lexus card programmed today. Nate from HB Remote and Key has a mobile service that came to my work and programed the card and cut my emergency key in a few minutes. Could not of been easier for me. Recommend him to those in the SoCal, Orange County area. :kona:

My v12 is also lacking the utility button. Could you please link me to the older version that is easily downloaded?

I just scoured the web for an older version of tech stream. My version is from either England or Australia. It shouldn't be to hard to find. If you need more help, I will fire up my ancient laptop that has the software on it and get you the version number.

    Edit:
So I don't have the exact link, but the version is 10.30.029. It is easily found on the web, Just google "techstream version 10.30.029" and you will find it.

Thanks Dangle, that did the trick. So much better without a fob!

I posted a while back about having issues locking/unlocking when keeping the Lexus card key in a metal money clip. The metal money clip was definitely the problem. I have switched to a different wallet/money clip and now it is working flawlessly.

The Fantom Wallet https://fantomwallet.com works very well with the Lexus card key. Their customer service wasn't sure if the fanning mechanism would work with the card key since it is not the exact same size as a credit card or driver's license. I was able to try it out for 30 days free, but am keeping it since it works great. I got the carbon fiber version, and added the metal clip. Their aluminum version is probably nice too, but my guess is that the aluminum would interfere with the signal between card key and touch handles just like my old metal money clip did.

The fanning mechanism is really neat. I had to mess around with placement of the Lexus card versus the credit cards and driver's license in order to get them all to fan out properly. Best way to do it is with the Lexus card on top of all the other cards, otherwise it doesn't work correctly. Besides the Lexus card, I have a driver's license, 3 credit cards, and a gift card, which makes everything just tight enough. Mine is the regular Fantom 10 (no coin holder) which holds anywhere from 6-10 cards. This works great since the Lexus card is about the same thickness as 3 credit cards. I'd highly recommend the Fantom wallet! Here's a few pics too.

Forgive me if this has been asked before. I keep seeing posts about TechStream requiring a 32 bit processor. I have been using Tech Stream on my Surface Go, which is a 64bit Processor. Does the key programming require 32 bit? Or have they updated the software to allow 64 bit processors to work?

Techstream is fine 32 bit or 64 bit I believe. I think the issue is purely in the drivers for the dongle.

Tried to pair my card key from my ‘17 to my new ‘19 at the same locksmith that originally set it up and wasn’t successful. There’s a chance I might need a new and different part # with the ‘19.

    Too much.
I have gotten over the "trust but verify" stage, and am rolling with the card only. Removed my faraday caged key fob. Love the key card, ultra convenient.

You might have to check the FCC ID on the back of the 2019 remote and see if it matches the one on the Lexus key. I remember the OP doing this in the pioneer stages of this mod.

Ok just reread the first post. Forget the FCC ID. He matched the ecu part numbers instead. Maybe @Victory can shed some light.

Has anyone tried to swap the inner part from the Tacoma to the Lexus keyfob below? The buttons align like the OEM and it looks thinner as well. With this option you don’t need to reprogram, it will be a complete swap.
