Wondering this myself on my 2015. I just cleaned up the terminals and threw on some of those felt washers and grease. Water levels were good. Whats the consensus on a good standard lead acid battery? Wally's everstart, duralast, autograft?

NSB-AGM27F FTW! I proactively replaced my OEM battery because of a previous Northstar GB. @ramonortiz55 is the bane of my checking account, but I have no regrets!

Because it wasn't dead yet, I was able to sell my used battery on Craigslist.

Not a big fan of Auto Zone, but their Duralast Gold batteries are a good buy, hold up well, and they have always treated me well on warranty issues. I've also had good luck with NAPA branded batteries. In my experience, Optima is over priced and over rated. YMMV.

i like to replace mine when i replace the frame. went 9.5 years on the factory. killed it once tailgating around year 4 or 5. Toyota replacement battery was installed November 15. we'll see which lasts longer, the frame or the battery.

    clean those terminals!

most batteries ought to last 4-5 years, I always know when they start going bad then their is some hesitation to click over.

my 2015 Just up and died about a month ago. No warning. Thought Id done something dumb like leave a light on. Turns out extreme heat (FL) and offroading shortens the life. FL battery life seems to be about 3 years from research

That has been my experience. 5 years and they are about done generally. A hot summer does them in and the winter cold reveals the weakness.
I'd rather be proactive than be stuck somewhere in the cold waiting for a jump, a ride to the auto parts store or AAA. You can often find good prices when you plan for replacment.

In hot climates, batteries die an early death. In cold climates, they will often last longer - everything else being the same. I've had most of my batteries over the years last 8 to 12 years. My uses changed (regular winch use), so I switched to the Northstar 27F AGM a couple years ago. No problems yet.

This is what intelligent testers do! So much better than the toaster ovens or multimeter. If there was a bad cell it would of found that as well. Now you have your answer and no questioning your decision.

The simple truth is, I can easily afford to replace it. And I certainly would rather replace it a little early than have it fail when I need it.

Factor in too if you can easily get by a day or so without your truck. If it's a real pain, maybe it's cheap insurance.

That said I live in New England..my wife's Rav4 battery lasted 10 years. Just didn't start one day but jumped right up, knowing it was 6 years we had the vehicle I figured best to just change it since she works till 9 at night sometimes. I didn't expect to find the original under there.

My 2010 Tacoma has the original battery still, Sept 2009

Well that's my thinking, I need my truck to crank reliably. Due to the nature of my job it's not really an option for me to just not show up to a clients because my truck didnt start. Plus any time we travel (which is often) we are in my truck.
