    Its only offering a 2.3-liter inline-four engine. Toyota offers a 2.7-Liter 4-Cylinder and 3.5-Liter V6. I have a V6 so I don't see it being better.

It will be a very looooong time until I will consider a Ford Ranger after living with one for 15 years and only 147,000 miles. Mine was a 3.0 V6...talk about a gutless wonder!

HP was the same as the Toy 3.5 and we've heard the Taco numbers weren't accurate, either 1/4 mile or dyno compared to older models.

Don't know about the Ecoboost 4 being "better" than the Toyota 3.5, but it will most certainly appeal to those looking for more power.

300+ torque stock and the Ecoboost engines have a huge aftermarket of performance modifications.

This is basically the same engine as the Focus RS so the 350hp/350tq numbers of the RS should be easily reached.

I expect to see some low 13/high 12 second Rangers pretty quickly.

I will look at them closely after they've been on the market for at least a year.

The EcoBoost is a pretty sweet engine. Guaranteed it beats out either Tacoma engine in fuel economy and power. I think it puts out something like 270hp and 310ft.lbs of torque? Combined with a 10 speed transmission, the Tacoma's only saving grace is its legendary reliability, which is still unproven in the 3.5 litre, not that I'm doubting it at all.

I'm a Toyota owner for life, but Ford is doing a good job with the Ranger. Toyota definitely got complacent with the Tacoma when it became the only midsize option for the last 10 years. I don't think it's sales are going to drop by any means though.

The 4 cyl echo boost is advertised at 310 HP on the Mustang. Did not find what Ford will deliver with the Ranger.

Yeah....but that 2.3 EB puts out more than 159 HP. ;)

I have to admit that I am looking forward to see the Ranger hit the dealerships. I like trucks and it's a truck. And I like the idea of the Ranger Raptor.

I'll wait until a friend buys one and I pay off my punkin wagon before even thinking about buying one :anonymous:

The headlights look awful on the new Ranger...look like they belong on a Taurus

Also, I'm not sure what it's specs are but will there be much of an aftermarket for it? As far as lifts, armor, etc. go? Because that's another big reason the Tacoma is so popular in the offroading community that the article fails to mention...huge aftermarket support (not like that of a Jeep but big nonetheless) and ease of lifting the truck.

There's an aftermarket already for it because this model had been overseas for 8 years. ARB already has products for in in regards to armor, suspension and other items.

Looks a lot better with the headlights obscured by the bumper lol.

I still like the Tacoma's styling better, it's got a slimmer looking aesthetic to it overall...so many trucks these days look so bloated especially the full size ones (Tundra definitely included)...the Ranger still looks that way to me just smaller. Same with the Colorado.

It'll probably grow on me but that's just my initial impression, does look better with some modifications done to it

A thing I saw on the Ranger forum is a guy ordering a stock driver-side grab handle from the overseas model since it's on the passenger side in RHD models. The US spec Ranger doesn't have one, so he ordered it to go with the Ranger he pre-ordered.

Nice video. Wasn’t some douchebag complaining about how rough the ride is or how unluxurious the interior is.

    Seems like a promising truck.

    Tacoma got a fat lip.

Trucks are getting uglier and uglier. Fed regs making pedestrian friendly front bumpers since people can't seem to look both ways before they cross a street.

    First gen best gen.

    No argument here

yeah, the 'pedestrian crumple zones' that are mandatory now to protect us from ourselves is hard to make look appealing on new vehicles.
