    Ford Ranger or Ford Taurus?

I'd choose the Ranger any day over the Taurus. I think Ford agrees, since the Taurus is being faded out.

The new ranger looks ugly. Front end worse than the Colorado.

Bolts and Headgaskets. The Focus RS have even had short blocks and heads replaced caused by the head gaskets. The Ecoboost Mustangs have even had a major head gasket problem. I jumped on the Ecoboost Bandwagon and owned one. I hopped back off after 1.5 year later and about 7 trips to the dealer getting warranty work done, including 2 CV axles.

    That's what Ford claims.

I'm thinking they are thinking the Ranger will absorb some of the that market.

This was exactly the reason why Ford ditched the Ranger in the US to begin with...cannibalizing F-150 sales.

    Yes

Isn't the Bronco on the Ranger platform?

I wouldn't see the need for Ford to sell the current Explorer, and the new Bronco.

Correct, the Bronco is rumored to get another engine option or two that the Ranger is supposed to eventually absorb as well. I do think Jeep should be running scared from the Bronco based off of the little information Ford has released about it. I do not think the Tacoma sales are going to take a plunge from the Ranger... Taco is tried and true, even the 3rd gen though 2nd genners don't want to admit it.

With the new Ranger and the Jeep Scrambler coming it will be interesting to see what happens to Tacoma sales.

"The Ranger will be offered with the sole powertrain combination of a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine backed by a 10-speed automatic transmission and will be offered in XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. No V6, no manual for the U.S. Ranger. Sorry if you wanted that stuff."

So, only option is a 4 banger turbo? Remember the last set of Ecoboost issues with the F-150s?

Been see'ing Rangers all over the place with manufacturer plates on them since June, if I remember correctly. They look visually almost as big as the F-150, like a step-side F-150.
