Enter through N Mills River Rec area and stay straight til the road crosses a bridge and turns to gravel. That’s yellow gap road. The circled bit is the site I’m talking about. There’s a left hand turn that will dead end. At the turn is a huge horse camp area you can car camp at or follow to the dead end for a more private camp site. Trails headed south are beautiful and will bring you to a river crossing.

That black trail to the north is Thompson Creek. Starts off flat but will put you into a steep climb up to Laurel Mountain trail. Up there is the primitive site with a spring.

Any of y’all need more details or info on the WNC area let me know. I guided out there for several years so I’ve hiked damn near every trail and have driven most of those service roads. I have all the maps on an app on my phone so I can show you where and what I’m talking about

I’ll likely be in touch because I would really like to explore that area more.

Which map app do you use? I mainly use motion-x gps.
