I have a Thule roof top box also. I did have to drill 2 new holes for it to line up on the Rhino Rack also (there is a sliding track option that probably solves this but I didn’t get it).

I’ve had no issues with drilling the 2 holes, I think I kept the front mounting locations and just added 1 on each side to the rear. I’m pretty sure the footprint of the bracket I have on mine still covered the all of the mounting holes, the originals and what I added.

I totally forgot I had to do that until you mentioned it.

Does your Thule box have the sliding mounts? When you get a chance could you give me the outside measurements from bar to bar?

On the box, it does not. My box is maybe 6 years old and whatever base model box Thule sold that year - got it at REI as an open box so the price was right. Mine hinges in the front so the back opens up vs the side to side models. Ironically that bothered me on my Subaru because of the back hatch, but it’s great in the truck because I load it from the bed and it’s perfect.

I’ll go measure the bars and report back.

The crossbars measure 27.5 inches center to center, and they are 3 inches wide.

My Thule box mounts have a U Bolt style that slides from underneath into the box and then a clamping mechanism that locks them in place from the inside.

If I recall correctly when I went to drill my new holes there was actually indentions already marked on the box that I punched through.... like from the factory it had premarked undrilled locations to drill out. I can’t even tell which ones I drilled because my bit matched the other holes.

I mention all of this because the newer and nicer boxes I believe have a whole new system that probably wouldn’t apply to what I have. I had looked at getting a newer box but I don’t want to give up the rear access, it’s super convenient.

I wash my truck very gently to minimize the swirl marks. I don't even try to remove the difficult dirt because I don't want to damage the paint. But today it was 34 degrees and I was sick of the dirty Inferno so I went to the car wash for the first time in probably a decade. Always been afraid of the carwash swirling my shit up but they did a nice job and I can see my self doing it again this winter. it has gone up in price for sure 26 bucks plus tip

The box I have opens from the side. It uses the ubolt system to, but has a track on the inside that allows you to slide the locking clamp mechanism back and forth a bit. I'm pretty sure that it will work with the 27.5 inch spacing. I just have to decide if I'm willing to put rivets into the roof the of the truck. I think I would have to do it without telling me wife or she would murder me.

Yeah its expensive alright. Not touchless and I know it's probably covered in a layer of dust already but it has been a few months since clean and I drove straight to beach (only 3 miles from my house)lol to get the pics while still clean. Hopefully still looks good for our ride down south on Thursday.

Got a spare rim delivered yesterday from 4wheel parts. Still waiting on the set of 4 from the MetalTech Black Friday sale.

Didn’t even notice until tonight that 4wheel parts sent the wrong wheel! Order clearly stated 6x5.5 and they sent a 5 lug. Good news is MetalTech has the rest of my wheels in finally. Picking them up tomorrow, fingers crossed they are correct.

My buddy's got bronze rims. I opted for black rims myself, although I was heavily considering bronze.Jimmy.jpg
