Saw a high school chick in a 3rd gen dcsb trd today. Listening to lady caca and the feces twins or whatever they are. Pink seat covers. Owning a Tacoma is no longer "I bought this thing because it will last me a while and will pretty much go anywhere". It has become a status thing because they are expensive. Sales, soccer mom features, and computer nannie junk will continue to climb while build quality diminishes.

I wonder if Tacoma keeps becoming more popular. Trade in value will go down?

Another note. I will not buy one with a snorkel on it. Not my deal.

Yeah this has gotten way off topic. You’re right that there are huge number of factors here and far too many for me to type out on my phone.

My point was I wish the taco had a small v8 and that mileage is not an excuse not to have one. It’d make the truck perfect.

You're right, silly me wanted to actually do more than "basic mathematics" and compare engine RPM. Physics doesn't matter. I'm a little brainlet for not thinking that installing 32" A/T tires and 5.38 gears would make a truck more fuel efficient. WHY DOESN'T MY TACOMA GET 27 MPG LIKE A MUSTANG?!?!?!?

I would think it would go up right? If every one wants a cordless drill, and you have a good used one, then chances are you could sell it fast for pretty good money....why would that not apply to trucks?

    Fine.

Centripetal force has zero to deal with calculated rolling resistance. Rolling resistance is a calculation of friction that must be overcome by a force to turn the wheel and move whatever that wheel is attached to forward.

Rolling resistance is highly impacted by contact patch. Hence why cars like a Prius have skinny tires. Less rolling resistance. My mustang had a much larger contact patch vs the Tacoma. Therefore more rolling resistance, not less. Tire deformation and tread pattern are of course all factors. The weight of the tire / wheel is a factor as well as tire height, but no where near as great of factors as you’re making it out to be. Hence each corner of my truck has only 15lbs more of unsprung weight vs the mustang.

Use this link to review how rolling resistance is calculated if you wish.

The Mid-sized truck segment seems to be growing, I really don't think the Ranger will take many sales from either Tacoma's or F150s.

You're really dead set on focusing on friction coefficients now aren't you? Tire weight isn't a great factor, just engine RPM. 800 lbs of weight isn't a big deal and tire diameter is just a small factor. Those Duratracs don't take any more energy to spin than some street slicks. My analysis was total garbage and you comparing the engine RPM of a Tacoma and Mustang makes complete sense.

Seemed to me a calm, we'll thought out, informed and quite logical rebuttal to your flawed analogy of Burgers to Tacos (you can get both at Del Taco, incidentally and the burgers are surprisingly decent)

Sounds like you took it as a big kick in the nuts. U mad bro?
