*Expensive* is all relative to your income:expense ratio. Then again, a lot of people do make irresponsible financial decisions based on their income:expense ratio.

I don't follow that ratio at all I have zero payments on Boat, 2 cars and 2 trucks just that damn taxes on home and of course the normal monthly bills that I keep down with Solar power and Heat pump system and none of it has to do with income ratio it is the drive to have what I need and want without having effect on the savings Goal for retirement I could very well handle the 1500 month mortgage and a 600 or more auto payment but why do that when there are ways to get there without making the bank richer and yourself paying so much more just to have it?

Get a OR and upgrade. Much more fun and in the end you will get a better truck customized to your liking. My first Toyota, second truck (2000 ZR2) and I've enjoyed the upgrade process with mine!

    My 1st Tacoma I bought was a new 2008 sport dcsb 4wd in 2007. FB_IMG_1530407142889.jpg
I was 19 and had a ton of negative equity on my frontier. No money down and stole the new one(because I worked for the Toyota dealership I purchased it from) and still had a $560 a mo payment, 170 insurance, 100 mo payment to les Schwab for lift/wheels/tires. And spent another 2500 on a stereo system remote start w/alarm & 10% window tint...and other various nicknacks

Was the easiest payments I ever made because I loved the truck & so did the ladies. :D

When you are a salesman its very easy to talk yourself into purchasing anything. You just justify it in your mind that "meh I just need to sell another car and Ill make that money back"

Needless to say the market crashed soon after and I had to bail on sales for a couple years until it bounced back.

Yep. I wasn't very financially secure when I bought this truck even though I made 70k that year. Being 19 young n dumb..... I blew every penny on clubs, parties, dates, and clothes(I was quite the cocky douche canoe back then... popped collar an all.)

But It didn't get repoed. Fell back on a Medical field job I had before sales when the market crashed. Held onto her for 2yrs 2mos and 20k mi. Sold her for 28500 ( ironically the same amount I paid for her before TT&D) lost on the upgrades but oh well.

I did it right this time around. Bought and paid for my 2018 sport on day 1

Well, I used to have a 2012 BMW M3 and it's payments were $1241. I made one ever two weeks on that one too. Now the PRO sounds cheap doesn't it.

I always used to tell my new salesman on my team... "A good deal is a state of mind" by which I mean the money isn't really what makes a good deal to a customer.
If they are happy and paid sticker they got a good deal.
If they are unhappy with their purchase and paid invoice... they got a bad deal.

Its the salesmans job to pry out the true wants concerns & fears. If they can gain their friendship and work out what they really want than that customer will pay a fair price and send referrals.

If your working a deal till midnight and settle at invoice and they are not super stoked and you earn a mini... you both got bad deal.

No it is not as far as "buying a Tacoma" it is when your payments exceed 38% of your gross monthly Income ratio then you are not leaving much room for the ooops shit happens... next thing is "Hi I'm Here to Repo"

Since the 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport that just got totaled that I paid cash for, I am now forced into a truck note. But will just pay it off fast and that way it won't be much interest.
