Vegan tacos tonight. For real doe. Could not tell they were vegan. The line around the block told me something special wa going on there. Here’s my massive pile of street food. Nacho boat- asada, taco trio: asada, al pastor, barbacoa.

Barbacoa was my favorite. Damn good tacos. Al pastor has an almost sweet aftertaste from the carmelized onions- meh.
Don’t get ballsy with the hot salsa. You’ve been warned.

Fuck if I know, but they were amazing. "Asada", "al pastor", "barbacoa", and "chicken" were all good but al pastor was the only one I could tell that wasn't actual meat. The rest has a ground beef texture with various seasonings to mimic the flavor (exceptionally well I might add) they were after.

To see a line around the block for vegan tacos in (north) east LA should say something about the quality and flavor. It wasn't just hipsters in the line either- I think I only saw one handle bar moustache.

There is a company called impossible foods that makes a meatless ground beef. Supposed to be REALLY hard to tell it’s not the real deal. I know some burger joints have started using their stuff. I haven’t tried it yet but the results have been pretty positive from the reviews I’ve read.

That sounds amazing. Around here we have Kogi. Which is Korean fusion tacos. Amazing LA staple.

I had it at Burger King, I could tell the difference but I don’t think it was enough of a difference overall for me to care. In thinking about it, I’d still order a regular whopper over it lol.

Yeah, I can appreciate why people are investigating beef alternatives but I’ll leave that discussion out of here haha. I would recommend trying it for sure, I think it will only get more popular as time goes on.

Ya I’ll definitely give it a try. If for nothing else than for the curiosity. :)

I was local. In South Carolina now! I dream of breakfast burritos, tacos and extra salsa from CC!
