You can tie a credit card to venmo too
With pay pal you send money to their pay pal account and they send it to yours.
With venmo it goes into your bank account.
You will just have to try it.
I use both but for sending money to friends and family I like venmo better

 

Ok going straight to a bank account is different but that saves just 1 step with the money. PayPal allows credit cards too. I'm just trying to learn the purpose of it, so far one minor difference. PayPal was around and used so long before I just dont understand the swap

I'll stick to PayPal till I see a reason to go to venmo. Ain't broke dont fix it.

So my wife’s Christmas gift invoice came this morning. Guess what type of payment they accept? If you said Venmo you are correct! Guess I’ll have to sign up!

I see what you're saying, but PayPal has always been instant for me. Never had a delay, well maybe like 10 seconds like a text message.

 

The delay in the PayPal payment is moving the money from your PayPal account to your bank account. That is a 3 to 5 business day deal always.

 

Really? How much money does it have to be to delay that long? Mines there, or gone, faster than a credit card transaction. You can also bank money in PayPal as to avoid those delays.

I do however see the use of Venmo for a friend to friend transaction.

I use my credit card everywhere instead of my debit card for the security to my bank account. If someone steals my credit card I might have a higher balance on that card but I can call the credit card company and get it resolved with no downtime monetarily. However, If someone steals your debit card and drains your bank account you could be shit out of luck if a bill comes up.

The way I see it, Venmo is like using a debit card where PayPal (goods and services) is like using a credit card
