Seen those in my search, I wouldn’t mind the full trans if I could get it for a couple hundred or less. Marlin crawler sells rebuilt ones for $1,300ish

@m3bassman, @BossFoss, you guys are a bad influence, after a 12yr hiatus from any significant gaming I just ordered the PS4 pro RDR2 pack as a Merry Christmas to me:bananadance:

    ha nice.

I keep going back and forth and if I want a system finally. But realize Id barely use it.

Building my own mixing rig. New computer next and software and converters. The painful part but also the backbone of it all.

I don’t think you will be disappointed. I was starting to accept that maybe my interest in games was just fading because of my age and life directions changing. It was nice to play a game that brought my interest back.

I loved the original RDR, so I figured between #2, the FFVII remake and the most recent Gran Turismo it justified the purchase.

Is that your studio rack? Or are you using that for your live recordings. Also how many line array cabs (flown) and subs do you think it takes to cover a baseball field, crowd of about 3k?

This is just one of my racks at the studio I run. This is all my own personal outboard analog gear though that I use here at times. Working on having my own setup at my house so this stuff will mostly move to my house.

Have a ton of gear otherwise.

Hmm need more info there. Like where are they being hung from? What kind of field as is is the a roof or not. Is it a wide wrap of people or is it tall(bleachers) or both?

Overall though, a lot. Likely want 90º cabinets at least. Though depending on how its built 120s could work.

Open air, stage would be be up against the backstop facing out to center field, cabs would fly from the sides of the stage, I was thinking somewhere around 10x2 on the flown speakers and 15 or so subs. Am I way off base? I now they have all sorts of formulas for this, would be for rock/red dirt acts.

So wait, this is for a stage for like band? not the audience watching the game? The stage is back behind home plate or out in home run territory facing the audience?

This is for concerts on a baseball field, home plate is roughly stage center. Ideally want to carry 90db out to the fence in center field.

Might also be using the same setup in an outdoor rodeo arena for bands post rodeo.

    ahhh okay okay.
10x2 should be a lot. If you get the right ones so 120º for the bottom 2 probably rotated down then 90s from there and maybe the top 2 could be 30s or 45s to get more reach.

15 subs is a LOT. I doubt you'd need that many with good line arrays and amps. 10 should be plenty Id think. Unless you want the rave sound i suppose. but for a rock style groups you don't need it. Only going to have most the kick drum and a tiny amount of the bass in it. Some synth stuff would use it too. At least when I run live sound thats how I do it. But Im going for clarity vs impact which is what a lot of people do these days, just make it so loud people can feel it. Im not that kind of mixer though.

I like to play a lot of EDM during dead time and set swaps, I thought 15 might be a little light for some of the bassnectar type stuff.

Yeah if you want to pump that stuff loud then 15 18'' 1000w subs will move some air.

Thats a big system. Quite the budget your playing with. What brand are you going for?

I noticed my decline the most with the release of Xbox one, I have collection of maybe 10 games for it and until RDR2 the only game that seemed to be interesting to me was Minecraft just cause it was different. Doom was good for the first bit until the carnage got old and repetitive. Seemed easier to be into the online thing in the 2000’s with games like Halo and Gears of War. Now just give me something I can get lost in for a few weeks in the evenings and I’m happy, like a good book.

I also remember games for the 360 didn’t really get great until the end of its run when it seemed the developers had a good grasp of how to get the most out of a game using the platform.

Lol yeah I found the grizzly, quite a few moments in the game that take you by surprise. Playing through the first one now, it’s terrible at times lol. They did such a good job on the second it makes this look like it belongs on original xbox.

I’ve mostly been looking at JBL vertec, but I’m open to any and all recommendations from pro’s within the business. Made some good contacts in Vegas at NFR last week, this is to do national touring acts in Wyoming, with lots of sponsor and corporate dollars involved.

Final Fantasy VII is what got me hooked on the PlayStation brand, that series of games and Gran turismo, plus the occasional game like RDR has made up the bulk of my gaming, never have gotten into FPS or online and really haven’t played at all since marriage and kids...guess it’s time to go on a week long bendero_O
