I think all pitbull owners deal with that to a certain degree. Just something you have to get used to.

I need to invest in a better camera. It's hard to get her brindle colors to really show. She has an awesome coat and is complimented every time we're out. And the other has the softest coat of any short haired dog I've had.
Sydney was about 30 pounds when I got here. She's up to about 45 now. The thing that upset me was she was at a foster home for a month or so and the gentleman said how great she was, the food she ate, etc etc. The 1st week I noticed she would vomit nearly once a day, not solid poops, almost forced herself to eat. The vet did some testing and it turns out she had a food allergy and was allergic to the food he was giving her. She now has to get hydrolyzed protein. Within days she was 100%
"Fine but this is the last picture..."

we've pretty much said Fuck it, we don't care what you think. Our pit is so calm and docile and doesn't get worked up like our boxers when they see people out side. He's awesome.

Unfortunately, the breed has been named as dangerous. As we all know, there are breeds that have been tagged as dangerous due to those that were put into situations that taught them to be more aggressive. Most of these breeds are by nature very hard working, loyal, and trust worthy, but it goes to the "bad eggs" issue.

Virtually any breed can be called dangerous if the population sample used for making such determination had been exposed to, taught, and neglected to the point they adopted those traits.

At one time the same conversations were, and occasionally still are, concerning other breeds. Rottweiler, Doberman, Chow, Akita, GSD, etc.
Here is a 2014 article discussing how insurance companies deny coverage if the "wrong" breed is present in the household.

I have had scary incidents with many breeds that have not made the list.. Min-pin, Corgi, Shetland, Yorkie and several more.

Hell, Great Danes made that list and I have never personally had a bad experience or seen a Dane that was anything besides good natured, gentle, loving, and most seem to be under the impression they were a lap dog.

Just love you pup and when you hear crap like that in public just tell your pup, loudly enough for the offender to hear, that he/she is a good dog and some people are just mean and cruel and we should not be around that TYPE of person or dog.

Great Danes are horrible. They are a constrictor breed, they wait for their unsuspecting prey to sit on the couch and then they walk up next to them and plop down on them til they can't breathe. Never seen one any different.

I had never heard of Catahoula before coming to FL. Now I have a Lab-ahoula, and there are 5 other Catahoula mixes in the neighborhood that I am aware of. Every one of them are good pups with very active tails, just happy, friendly, and anxious to please.

I will say mine is quite strong willed, he will test the wife or I almost every day. He is smart as hell; knows just how far across the "line" he can go without serious repercussions.

Yep the Catahoula breed is extremely smart. I have owned several breeds and about 20dogs since childhood. My family growing up we’re serious animal lovers...horses, rabbits, squirrels.
You name it, we took it in.

Picked up my first Catahoula when I was about to graduate college. I found him on the side of the highway and was the size of a grapefruit. Truly, the best dog I have ever had the pleasure to be by my side.
Fast forward 15yrs later, my boy Blue passed away. Took me almost 4trs to get over his death.

Now we got Huck, and I must say he reminds me a lot of old Blue. Your lucky to have those dogs, they will learn everything you can throw at them. They will test you, serve you, fight for you, and give you unconditional love.

We had a herd of Danes growing up. It was a site to see! I remember when we won our Homecoming game, and my parents let me throw a party. Let’s just say a good majority of people would not step in the house. While they are lap dogs and love to take over the couch, bed, and certainly your lap. The bark/growl that my dog Thor was no joke. You could feel his bark in your stomach coming thru the front door.
You had to have some serious balls coming into our property with 5 Danes, 2 Labs, 1 Golden, 2 fat beagles and 1 Wiener dog running around.

Y'all talking about Great Danes, and you forget the horrible nightmares that Greyhounds are. Shiftless piles of legs and head that like to lay prone at the top of the stairs in the dark, magically changing color to match the carpet, waiting to trip you up and feast on you at the bottom of the stairs.

And then, when they get an opportunity to open it up, downshift into warp speed and are gone...only to run out of gas inside of 5 minutes and turn back into living speed bumps again.

The Black one named Enzo passed away a few months back, I loved that dog very much and his passing hit me hard. Enzo was faster than any dog I've ever had, his mom could jump into the back of a lifted F-350 from a sit position.

The brown one is named Chester and he's my dad's dog. Great lazy bear and is wildly athletic for something that size.

    Love our Newfies.

That's why we always try to have clothes or a bandanna on our little lady so she looks less intimidating.

We actually had to switch insurance when we got our pitty. Considered saying she was a different breed but decided it wasn't worth the risk.
