    Did you end up contacting @Plastics Guy about this? I purchased the same kit for the same shocks. Thanks.

    Duh my bad. 4runners don’t belong here though, they have a nicer more elite forum all to their own ;)

    Oh geez, had no idea about the hacking. You’re right about the thread. Just a lot of confusing details about coils and what not on here. My bad carry on

    Hey All,

    When installing the rear piggyback reservoirs, should the reservoir be above the shock body or below. Basically, should the reservoir face towards the front or the back on the driver/passenger.

    I've seen photos on this thread of them mounted both ways. I know the TRD Pro suspension is installed with them below the shock body. Hopefully someone here has the official word on the matter.

    @HeadStrong Off-Road ?

    I totally missed “piggyback”. Looks like each side faces opposing

    Maybe these?

    Yes, in all of those examples, the reservoir is below the shock body, which is how I personally "think" they should be installed. However, I've seen a few submissions where people have installed them above the shock body... just curious if anyone has official word on what is proper.

    Thanks!

    Below the shock body is the correct way so drivers side the resi faces the rear and passenger side faces the front. I learned the hard way. I had the drivers side facing forward and when I hit a bump and it compressed the bottom of the resi hit the hard brake line and cut the abs cable. I would’ve never known that until I installed my my rear high clearance bumper. The extra weight made it compress more. At that time I didn’t install my Wheelers bumps and Dakar AAL yet. The cable costed me $100 at the stealership. Luckily the brake hardline didn’t break but I bought a replacement and will replace it anyways when I get the chance.

    Fixed the orientation and finally installed Wheelers bumps and Dakar AAL LOL!

    Hahaha glad I can help everyone out. I think I would’ve been fine if I didn’t have the rear high clearance bumper. Didn’t have any issues prior to it. Damn heavy ass steel lol!

    Yeah I emailed the email on their website so I'm not sure if that goes directly to him or somebody else but I did mention the concerns I had about it making contact with the Shock body and that the U bolts were not long enough to reach around a ful HD Dakar pack but they didn't say anything about it they just said they are willing to accept the return and gave me a return address. I don't know about hitting the shock body but it looked close enough that I was worried about it hitting and I didn't want to take a chance.

    See those Ubolt flip plates look like they would never come close to making contact with the shock, is that a wheelers plate?

    I understand him being busy since he is running it by himself, I wasn't questioning the quality of the kit. Buying longer U bolts would've been an option if the plate didn't look like it was going to make contact with my shock when fully compressed, that's why i returned them.
