The instructions from Fortin are unclear for those of us that haven't read wiring diagrams before. They're barely instructions, more of a wiring picture. The extra pages you included for the TPMS and Clutch-Start-Cancel are very clear. A full-on MT H-key video would be very helpful. I'll even help make it if somebody's near me.

Why include instructions if they're not meant to be followed? My very first post was merely some questions about the included documentation and some suggestions on how you can make it better. There was nothing negative about it, and I'm puzzled how you interpreted it that way.

I then thanked you for posting the video and it was very helpful in getting the dash apart and giving a general overview of the steps. However, there were several missing pieces of information which I've pointed out -- one of which is the connection for the ignition.

I never criticized the documentation of that step. There are two extra steps actually, and yes, those two steps are well documented in your guide. I had no problem following those, except the issue with the slack on the TMPS wire, which ended up not being a big deal.

No it wasn't. I didn't make anything personal until your post this morning taking passive-aggressive shots at me. And even then, I knocked your documentation skills. I still stand by that.

If this $hit doesn't work after I re-seat all the connections and re-program the unit, you bet your ass I'll be asking for a refund.

Bro, your documentation sucks. And your links to videos were videos of your competitors. Really? Like come on dude.

"Personal install issues"... that's rich. I followed your linked videos and the connection for the ignition switch was completely different and in a different location. I literally pulled every connection under the steering wheel (there were like 5 of them) to see which one resembled the one in the video. None of them did. Then I went back to your paper instructions (you know, the one you told me to stop using), and saw that the ignition connection is a much larger white connection.

I did. I PM'd, text messaged, called, and posted in this thread. You didn't respond at all until this morning. How was I supposed to know you were sick, especially since you responded to other people in this thread right around my questions to you. That looked like you were just ignoring me.

I wish you had that attitude yesterday while I was struggling with this. As long as the unit is not defective, it should work, and if/when it does, I sure hope the product lives up to its reputation. I'm pretty pissed off right now so I don't think a phone call will be in either of our best interests as you feel the need to continue to attack one of your customers. You could've left it alone after your last post, but you didn't. And I bet you won't now either. Just let it go dude. Let your angry customer vent. Try to help him. Don't take shots, don't insult his intelligence, and don't take anything personally. Let the quality of your product speak for itself.

Every once in a while, mine seems to still lock itself even after doing everything else correctly. Sometimes it will still start with the fob, others not. Any ideas?

Mine seems to work correctly 75% of the time, I’m assuming the other 25% is user error when putting it into reservation mode.

Ok, ALMOST there!! Haha. So now it does exactly what it's supposed to do. After the 3x press to start the truck, the lights turn on and I hear a click or two, and it looks like the truck is trying to do something (like start...LOL). But it does nothing.

So I think it may be the clutch wire. I'm not sure what else. But I think I'll just try to disconnect and reprogram at this point.

Probably a reservation mode thing. Took me a bunch of tries to get it right. You should have seen the first 5 videos I took. All ended with “3 clicks and she should start right up.......nope. F*ck” haha

After I shut the door, the truck shuts off. Then a few seconds later, I hear the doors unlock. I press lock on the keyfob. Whether or not I press lock, it still locks itself at ~15 seconds.

I'm not sure what that means.

One thing that's still not clear to me is: How do we know it's in reservation mode? At what point do we get confirmation that, "yeah, reservation mode set". It would be nice if there was some sort of distinct audible beep or something.

Damn, well it’s not the reservation mode then. Try the reprogramming and double check the clutch-start-cancel and get back to us

To piggyback off of the clutch wire question, does the insulation need scraped before applying the clamp or does the clamp cut into it? I didn’t take any of the insulation off of the yellow wire, simply pushed the clamp down until it clicked. Could that explain why I’m not getting it to work 100% of the time?

For the times it didn't work, was there anything different about how the truck behaved while you were putting it into reservation mode? (For example, did the truck shut off right away before you opened the door to get out, or TMPS light didn't illuminate?)

It should bite right through the yellow wire and make the connection. Make sure you get a good bite. I used pliers to crimp it down. You shouldn’t have to strip anything

Nah, as far as I know it all seemed like I did it correctly. It was my 3x click timing that was giving me trouble.

Thank you! I’m chalking it up to user error at the moment then!

Hmm... good question. I didn't strip off any of the insulation. On a previous car, I installed a piggyback tune module that required a wire tap. I didn't have to strip off the insulation. But that's the only other experience I have with wire tapping. I could see how if the wire doesn't penetrate the insulation to touch copper, it wouldn't work. In fact, that may very well be the issue in my installation.

Could be. Open up the little red connector bit and try it again. Make sure you’ve got the yellow wire lined up perfectly center to where the red connector bites. Then crimp it down with pliers to make sure it’s in there good and tight

I'm wondering also if I inadvertently pulled any of those wires out of the connector, because it was a really tight fit to get that red connector through that wire bundle to isolate just the yellow wire.

That could be. I moved down the wires a bit (down the black casing, away from the switch), peeled back the black casing and tapped there

I think if I'm able to start the truck with clutch start cancel, then that's safe to assume it's functioning as it should, and it's simply an issue of insufficient wire tapping.

Got my unit 5 days after shipping notification, California to Maryland. Jayrobot is correct, USPS tracking info has to be close to worthless. Read the instructions and had a panic attack. Opened the forum and found 500 others breathing into a paper bag. Took Jayrobot's advice and watched the video. 28 minutes after watching the video, my unit was installed and working perfectly. Took 22 minutes to take my dash apart and put it back together, and 5 minutes to hook up and program the unit.

A VERY HAPPY 71 YEAR OLD THAT CAN NOW GET INTO A TOASTY TACO. WELL DONE JAYROBOT AND A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

I think it’s us MT guys breathing into a bag haha. The ATs are pretty straight forward, especially with those videos
