    Correct-
So if Demello runs 20% for BF or holiday specials--- we match the same deal. We specifically and manually invoice through PayPal as expressed in our APP write up on the bumpers and sliders. Our site will always and has to abide per our agreement with Demello listing armor at their price. The checkout will not reflect accurate shipping charges in the website because freight can be stacked on one pallet if more than one piece of armor is ordered thus saving the customer more on shipping. Very simple -we do it through PayPal for consumer protection and for accuracy. The deposit is secured and fully refundable if customer changes their mind. We bill for the difference owed and shipping once its finished and ready to be shipped. No up charges/ no hidden costs.

You’re comparing the same bumper but built with different materials; steel vs aluminum. There will always be a price difference there.

They're simply fronting the bulk of the money to the Demello on behalf of the customer. Then when the customer pays the final balance at shipment, your payment is now reimbursing S48O for their share.

Their profit margins (however large or small) are likely comparative to any other vendor that supplies armor to customers at the same price the supplier charges :notsure:

Well this thread got interesting quickly...

I checked out @state48overland 's site - all looks good. Their checkout is through PayPal, as stated, which in my experience offers a huge protection to consumers. The Pelfreybilt fiasco led to a ton of good folks losing out on money because they paid up front with debit cards or cash in some cases. This removes that as a possibility.

I'll be placing an order shortly for some springs and Icon's S2 secondary front shock system to bolster the set up.

Next time I need some stuff, I'll take a look through. Glad to see another good vendor on the up and up from the looks of it.

Maybe demello gives them a cut or whomever their distributor is for how many units they sell.

Seems like a cool program for those that cant or don't want to spend the money up front.

Interesting program idea, but I don't see the obvious draw to it.

There is no payment plan. Just a $250 deposit and then $750 remainder (or whatever the final price ends up being) ~12 weeks (or however long it takes) later.

You're still spending $1,000 (or whatever it ends up being) in a rather short amount of time.

Does the deposit make people more committed to the purchase? Or does it kick start your extra savings to pay the remainder when it comes due?

I don't want no trouble, I am just genuinely curious.

Also, all I have heard about S48O has been great, and they will be one of my go-to product suppliers when my build ramps up.

upload_2018-12-19_16-7-52.jpg So let me tell you a story. Pull up a chair, young TW lad.

"Once upon a time, there was a company named Pelfreybilt. They had some of the finest trinkets in ALL the Tacoma world, and the peasants came in droves to buy their wares. As they grew and grew, they realized they didn't know how to manage cash flow. But instead of let the peasants know of their troubles, they took more orders, their lead times grew to a year, and one day...the evil Pelfreybilt went persona non grata, went off the grid for a week, filed bankruptcy on the down low, and blamed their customers for all of it. All the peasants that had committed thousands of their dollars to bumpers and armor were left with their hands out, and their pockets empty."

It's not about the purchase commitment or the savings mindset. Its about only being left out in the cold for $250 if the captain scuttles the ship. And a lot of people are VERY wary about large purchases these days because of Pelfreybilt.

The draw can be different for each person individually.

Sure, some people can’t afford all the costs of the armor at one time. This program allows them to spread the cost out some.

This view point does not fly for me personally. If I can’t afford a mod in one purchase, I don’t buy it until I have the funds to do so.

I think S48O primary motivation is to provide some protection to the customers purchase. Within the last couple of years, some very well know vendors have gone belly up. Sadly, some customers/and TW members were left holding the short end of the stick financially on orders they’d placed. This program provides customers the financial protection I previously referred to.

    Hey Michael-
No trouble caused at all man. These are great questions /thoughts. The issue at hand was what went down with Pelfrey. Some folks didn't recover from paying all up front for their purchase order and some folks did. A lot of people were left hanging with nothing, became apprehensive, angry and spiteful-rightfully so.... and we have an educated group on TW. They read what happened, some even are avoiding buying armor at all now, most analyze and make financial decisions that are safe / sound. As a community we had a reputable/official vendor go rogue. I took that out of the equation for those under APP. Your money is always protected under APP. Your deposit is fully refundable through PayPal at any time. Its my money that's been used to pay for the entire order. So for those who say or have said why am I paying for something up front and for something I don't even have or have to wait forever for???This hopefully alleviates that concern. It kickstarts the 3 month fab time for the product and in some cases people come in to money at a later date and are in even a better place to make an armor purchase. At the end of the day if the customer under APP cant pay their bill to me, its okay-no problem, I already own it and will store the inventory on my end for the next customer to buy. Hopefully that makes sense man.

Noticed a few folks on the thread worried about how we make money doing this... etc....I appreciate the concern and that's why I have started a Patreon Account...…...JUST KIDDING. We are direct dealers for Demello. Our primary concern is getting the customer taken care of first...we will count our pennies later.

This^. There are a ton of solid dealers I've had the pleasure of working with in the past - Travis from Metal Tech 4X4, for example. I really hope this type of ethic catches on around the community.

Just to clarify a couple things, State 48 is a direct dealer for us that have approached us with this unique idea of only doing a 250.00 deposit up front. Our prices should always be the same, Erick also has permission to match any current sales we have going as well. What it does for us is free's us up to focus on our customers while State 48 focus on their customers. We are a small shop and sometimes it's difficult to keep up with updating the customers with the amount of orders we process in any given month. Selling to one company like State 48 helps delegate the updates and questions from customers. I speak with Erick Daily, he gives me feed back and I keep him in the loop of lead times and time frames of products. We look forward to do many more orders with State 48.
