saw this earlier, the terrain looks familiar to me...I want to know who this was and where, so I can appropriately direct my criticisms.

Much like that 3rd gen recovery/rear axle tearing off debacle several months ago...that happened on a trail I frequent regularly and I knew of the guy that filmed it. Let's just say I wasn't at all surprised that that whole fiasco went down the way it did.

I don’t know if the third gen owners to blame or the recoverers.

Both, I'm sure. 3rd gen probably found him/herself in that position after doing something dumb and yeah, that recovery was haphazard at best.

Not like I have that kind of recovery experience myself, but I would think it's not the greatest idea to use the tires/wheels as a recovery point to pull a vehicle back over. If you wanted to minimize any further damage, anyway. Why didn't they use the frame? Maybe the owner figured the truck was fubar'ed (probably was, definitely is now) and didn't care.

yeah they definitely should have called in one or two trucks with a winch. A slow and steady winch would have likely not resulted in the truck rolling over again if they were cautious about it. Instead they yanked on it with a full size truck and a recovery strap.

I mean it was in a shitty position to begin with so it's tricky either way, like I said I haven't had to do it myself so I don't want to sound like I'm 100% sure I could have done better. But nothing about that scenario looked like it was done the best way.

If I had to do it all over, would most likely stick with the OME coils and shocks but sub in the expo leafs. Either that or order the dakars WITH the AAL already added to the pack.

I'm not sure if its because I added the AAL myself or if its simply because that OME AAL sucks due to NO isolator pads but after the truck sat for nearly two weeks (didn't drive it during the wildfire smoke b.s.), these things are sounding like a early 80s ford ready to squeak apart. driving me batshit crazy now. I thought I had solved/prevented the issue with swapping out the front hangar bushing with Daystar and using energy suspension pre-lube. The squeaking is either coming from that front hangar or the AAL near the front of the pack. Seriously, :annoyed:

Anyway, going to live with it for now until I have time to re-do the bushings and go with a greasable for the front. Who knows though - ordering with the AAL preinstalled might just do it. If it wasn't for this squeaking, I'd be 100% fine with them.

    Good luck.

Steel doesn't need to be liquefied in order to significantly reduce their strength.
