My TRD Pro came from the Dealer with the TRD Performance Exhaust listed as installed at Port it is not really that loud unless you really tromp on it then you can clearly hear it as for what does it do besides make a little more noise? I dunno but it might be the total combination of everything together that gives me good Mpg and no I don't Grandpaw drive it but I don't abuse it either I use it.

I was thinking about getting the TRD exhaust but I can’t tell from videos just how loud it is. I wouldn’t think it would be that loud for normal driving or on the interstate, but we take trips towing atvs and such and I worry that it may be louder than I want. For those of you that have the TRD exhaust, how much louder is it at 2500-4500 rpms than the stock exhaust?

i find it more mellow. stock is buzzy to me. TRD isn't buzzy and is lower pitch. no big drone or anything... a factory option would not be obnoxious, rest assured.

I bought and installed my TRD exhaust a few weeks after I bought my truck. It is not just a "can" but one piece full stainless system bolted to the rear Cat pipes. No Drone and OEM is why I bought it. I am pleased with the system being quiet driving like Dad, and growling when romped on.

Normal driving I barely hear it. I've got one along with a TRD CAI and if I accelerate with a really heavy foot there is a pretty noticeable response which I like. Can't say for towing but the sound comes from exhaust gas moving rapidly through the single chamber muffler which you get when you stomp it. I wouldn't think a steady speed in the normal range will add much even with a load. As compared to the aftermarket Cat-Backs, the TRD is probably the quietest.

Thanks guys. That’s kind of what I was thinking with it being a factory option. I wouldn’t mind having a better sounding exhaust, but didn’t want anything that would drone or be too loud with the rpms up while towing. The TRD exhaust seems like a happy medium.

TRD EXHAUST and Borla Exhaust are the same thing. Just different stamping.

Put the borla on, I think it's like $100 bucks. Neighbor has the Borla muffler and it sounds just like the Pro that his brother n law has. He has been in both, compared both and it sounds better on his SR5 longbed.

Just the muffler is $100. I should have been more clear on that.

I have the TRD exhaust. Dealer included it in the purchase of my new 2019 DCLB at no cost....I refused to buy the truck otherwise.

To me...I had the stock exhaust on my 2016 DCLB and the TRD Exhaust now on the 2019. No performance gain to me. I do enjoy the sound on start up and idle. Its not really noticeable at normal driving until you romp on the gas as others have said, then you can tell its there. Even then it is not crazy loud. I actually enjoy it. I find it just as buzzy as the stock exhaust but that is just my impression. Keep in mind I do have a 98 Cobra with Magnaflow exhaust so that thing is loud.....the Tacoma is quiet as a mouse in comparison.

If you don't like it, do as other have said and trade it plus cash for someone else's stock exhaust. Should be an easy swap.

Kind of weird, but since I had the TSB 0062-18 done yesterday, I have driven about 150 miles since I left dealer. And since the truck is not down-shifting with the slightest headwind or up a grade anymore, I'm really not noticing it near as much. I'm thinking I can live with it...

That is good to hear. I don't have the down shifting issue as much with the 2019 as I did with the 2016 (something I noticed right away on my test drive of the 2019), so that may be why I don't notice it as much either? In any event should you decide to 86 it someone local I'm sure would want to make the upgrade for cash and their OEM exhaust. I didn't set out to get the TRD Exhaust but since it was already installed on the truck and it was no cost, I said why not.

I have it, mine came from the factory with the "cat-back" exhaust so I have no basis for comparison to the stock exhaust system. I did add the TRD CAI afterwards so my truck sounds more powerful...LOL

Yea. What you described is exactly the way my Borla sounds. Also, as advertised “no drone”.
