hey guys, I’m buying a 19 OR DCSB. And I’ve got questions.. I’ve heard conflicting info on Diff Drops. Some say do it as a preventative while others say it’s not necessary.. & I’m sure the debate will continue here on this thread I’m typing up.

Fox 2.5 RR with 14” 600lb coils (no real plans for added weight)

285/75/17 (intended tire size) guess I’m going up 2.5” or so

Let me know about your experiences with diff drops and how it helped CV angles or how it didn’t.. anyway lemme know

    Thanks in advance

    NOPE.

2nd and 3rd gens share the same components. A diff drop on these vehicles doesnt do much more than pivot the diff rather than drop it (also hangs down the diff carrier below the frame... NO BUENO)

Do the lift, if you have front diff vibes due to the driver side needle bearing, replace it with an ECGS front driff bushing and call it good.

Why not get a 2X4 and never worry?

This. I ran with a diff drop for a few years, it didn't gain me anything. So when I built my own skids I removed it for maximum ground clearance.

The ECGS bushing is only done on the drivers side?? Or both?? I see how it’s a good replacement for factory needle bearing. And what’s to be done if my CVs are not happy?? Is it usually just the boots or the whole joint??

    Drivers side only.

You chew through boots if it’s too high. The joints are okay to higher angles than the boots are. If the fins are touching on the boots try a boot stretch mod or a high angle boot.
