Plus, it will be a runaway hit. Doesn't matter that it has a grenade for an engine and a GM tranny in it (yes, GM was the lead on it). It's a serious contender for all the wrong reasons.

Keep this in mind - Ford maintained the full size truck sales lead even in the dark years when they were producing shit engines like the 6.0 and 6.4 powerstrokes and trannys made of slinkys and Pringles. They did so against HD competitors that were offering much more reliable engines (d-max and Cummins) and in the case of GM, the Allison tranny.

The Ford formula for success does not include a reliable powertrain. Ford always leads in features and content.

Looks butt ugly coming from the fan of the older model Rangers with the side step in bed.

The cynic in me believes that this won't happen, at least the jump ship part.

How many members creaming themselves over the new Ranger are actually going to buy one?

    Very few I think....

Says the guy who is defending the initial OEM tune non-stop.

....Even after most TW AT MT owners have said the new OEM tune is an improvement.

Anyone who defends the Knock-n-detonate garbage initial tune is blind and biased Fanboy of Toyota.

    It looks great!

I think the 2.3 exoboost is the modern SR20DET

Again, you have yet to answer my question - how many of these 3.5 engines have failed or "detonated." I'm not a fanboi - this is my first Toyota... This is why we are calling BS, none of these motors have failed that I have heard. Folks have giving you links about the 2.3, but you have not offered one where the 3.5l 3rd gen Tacoma engine has failed or detonated. Stop spread shit if you cannot back it up = Smitty. Do you even own a Tacoma?

I've owned 34 vehicles. Eight of them have been Toyotas. Right now I have two Toyotas, a Subaru and a Honda. Fanboy? I don't think so Tim.

This has to be a troll post... there's no way anyone believes that the ranger will outsell the Tacoma, lol.
I GUARANTEE that the Tacoma will, at worst, double Ranger sales in 2019. Guaranteed. The Ranger will take further from the pathetic GM duo, not from Toyota so much.
Tell you what, let's bet some money. Whoever loses, sends the other guy some money via PayPal.
Just a fun cheap bet.. maybe $50 or $100?

Yeah, happy to see the Ranger making a come back.

And the Jeep Gladiator is also looks interesting imo.

I don't purchase vehicles often, and the next new one will be for the wife, so I really am not in the market.

I will say based on the posts I have read on TW, you certainly are a unique character....best of luck with whatever life brings your way.

These internet forums aren't suited to everybody.

    Cheers.

No way! Haha, sounds good... but not a very confident bet ($20)... just sayin' ;)
Just so we're clear, I'm betting Tacoma sales DOUBLE Ranger sales in 2019.
Hey, I'm glad the Ranger made a comeback. I hope it's a great truck and puts some heat on Toyota as it can only help us all.
Merry Christmas and I'll talk with you at the end of 2019 at the latest.

    Yawn.

Y'all remember the deluge of posts ensuring us that the GM twins would eat into Toyota's market share in the segment?

How did that work out.. oh yeah it didn't.

Lol, I DO wonder where the saturation point is though.
