Only thing I get, is to see my dog scrounge up deer forelegs on our walks. I don't need the soup bones, thank you very much.

I'm here - nothing much to add to the conversation so I've just been lurking. Our football team was out in Yuma and won the El Toro Bowl - ended up a perfect 11-0 for the first time ever in our history. Friday was our holiday party for faculty & staff and then I shut the college down until January 2d - paid time off with family without using up vacation. It is one of the best ways to reward our folks. Our two Christmas trees are up, I've got my shopping done. Now it's time to relax.

Our once community college, now calling themselves a college have a great history of sports conference championships, Feather River College, ranked 1st in basketball in their conference. I follow at times the closest Div I college, U Nevada Reno. I see they are ranked 7 in basketball. Gotta be all the coach, Musselman.

We are having the 2nd floor of our former consignment store auxiliary bldg. renovated into a 600 sq. ft.studio apt. The kitchen island will overlook the railroad tracks that transport BMWs from Spartanburg to the Port of Charleston for overseas shipping. The little place has 10 windows.

It's a fast changing area with many new breweries opening nearby. Just completed next door is a very cool 8500 sq. ft. office bldg. built on the site of a former mom & pop auto body repair shop & living quarters. The man told us that cows grazed across the street in the 1940s.

Beyond the former pasture, on the Cooper River, sit huge oil storage structures. They abut beautiful Magnolia Cemetery where the ill-fated crew of the Civil War submarine , CSS Hunley are buried.

The former owner's daughter suggested that he move from his trailer home that was on the property and cash in while he still could. There was a 1949 Ford pickup, with a tree growing out of the bed, in the side yard.

When we bought our two little block bldgs. 10 years ago they were boarded up & dilapidated. The adjacent lot had a burned out house that we had demolished. We have a shipping container on that lot now that is full of props for a local theatre
company. We let them use it in exchange for tickets to their performances.

Next to the container, is an interior decorating firm, occupying a former body piercing parlor.

It's going to be a fun project.

I was the "dead" photo double in a Die Hard movie for a character named Walsh. They posed my bloody body over a rail in a subway scene. I guess Walsh didn't want to do it.

Hay gang, decided it was about time to remove my almost worn out tires and put my private party, dealer pull offs on the truck. Still a pain crawling around to place my floor jack at suspension points and having room to pump the jack. Maybe I need a remote one? Won't get many more miles out of the original tires, they have over 31,000 on them.
Good rain the other day, creek thru my property came up quite a bit, did not clear many of the water logged Alder leaves in it. Forecast was for 12"-18" in the Lake Tahoe higher elevations, they got 3" or 4".

Hit a 2018 goal for our team on Monday, after a year-long clust---errrr, effort. Boss calls and says "you've been wanting to get out of the on-call rotation -- gonna make it happen." :woot: :woot: :woot:

"But you know that if all h*ll breaks loose we're still going to call you." o_O:ballchain::facepalm:

At least I get to keep the company phone.

He also pretty much begged me not to retire next year. We'll see.

When I was still working, we had been hitting our goal for a bunch of years, double digit % bonuses. They changed the system, so back to a low, single digit bonus after I retired. I don't miss expectations, procedures, policies, non-public information.

    Hi Duane,
What are your thoughts on the Esbit solid fuel stove and cook set from REI?
    Thanks.

Nice to have matched sets. I have numerous UL stoves that use Esbit tabs. Esbit is light, no special container needed to transport, cottage industry have designed stoves to even simmer and bake. Read the reviews.
I prefer to use a Trail Designs Caldera Cone with a Evernew .6L ti pot, 12-10 alcohol stove. 5.25oz. Faster, cleaner burn, easy to distinguish the flame, no stink of Esbit to permeate my pack, no residue on pot bottom. Esbit is slow to build heat, susceptible to wind with resulting diminished heat transfer to pot. The set might over come the wind, residue.
