    .
I see some of you guys are buying the extended warranty and that can be good .... just be careful that it is an "OEM Toyota Extended Warranty" from Toyota (from my experiences) ... many dealers now are selling "Regional or Dealer Extended Warranties" and some of these have some problems in some areas.

IMO .. I would NEVER buy a dealer or regional extended warranty from my experiences ... only an "OEM Toyota Corp Extended Warranty".

Saying this because many dealers in ATL, which are in the SET Region will only sell the regional or dealer warranty because of profits (from a what several dealers have told me).

Be careful ... I see some dealers confusing these warranties (on purpose I think) when I talk to them.

We used to be able to buy an "OEM Toyota Extended Warranty" from out of state dealers for peanuts (about $100.00 over cost) ... ie 100K for an excellent price until dealers changed the state law in GA.
example, I could buy a warranty for about 1/2 price by buying the paper out of state and it was the same warranty.

Check with your state and see if you can still buy warranties out of state direct ... not sure what the laws are now. You are only buying a piece of paper, backed by Toyota Corporate.

There were a few guys on TW from a few Toyota dealers that sold them at a reasonable price.

Now, I am shopping for a 2019 (my 13th Toyota truck) and have had dealer and regional and OEM Toyota extended warranties and this is from my experiences.

Do a search on TW for more details if you are interested.

I agree. I'm sure there are many more variables involved. Time of year or month. Location or State. Size of dealership. Popularity of Tacoma's in a certain area, need to make year end or month end quotas. etc.

I'm sure I probably could have shaved another $500 off if I worked it. They were low balling me on my trade until I showed them the True Car estimate.

I can tell tint was applied to the front windows. Is that standard? I vaguely recall seeing something about it costing $399, but I don't see any of that in my paperwork. I even overheard another couple asking "how much with no tint" in another cubicle. Not sure what tint scam they were working?

This same dealership had a 2018 TRD Pro for $51K just sitting out in the lot (not in the show room). Sales rep said they wouldn't deal on it for some reason? maybe the dealership overpaid?

For Toyotathon, do you get 2.9% financing and $500 off, or is it one or the other?

It’s both.. if you finance. The 500 comes off after tax etc.. you just reminded me about that. I ordered a truck last week and it’s supposed to arrive in January.. i wonder in same rates/rebates will apply (obviously i haven’t signed yet) but i did leave a small deposit to ensure order

Yeah WOW! My dealership was trying to get me to pay $2500 for the 10 years 100k 0 deductible, and told me he wasn't allowed to discount any of it. He claimed its state law to have a set price on warranties, I didn't buy his BS and passed.

The thing to remember is that the dealership is looking at profit from the “deal” —i.e. the total package. And they are very creative in finding new ways to come up with new ways to charge customers with something whether it be floor mats, alarms, window tinting, document fees, finance charges, interest rates or whatever...

And for the young guy who is emotionally committed to the purchase... we’ll you’ve just seen what can happen. It’s ALWAYS bothered me that one of the most expensive purchase an individual can make is so shady... but some people thrive on it just like some people thrive on gambling.

To the people who bought their taco with stick shift...... Were you able to get them to come off the price a decent amount since not too many people know how to drive stick anymore? I feel like the tacos with stick sit on the lot for a longer period of time.

Very good point. I once got a warranty on a used Volvo from a Volvo dealer. When the whole A/C system went out, it wasn't covered due to built-in loopholes. They said a different part, which wasn't covered under the warranty, had fried first, causing the A/C to go kaput, so the A/C wasn't covered.

I don’t think I really got much off for getting a manual, but honestly I was just happy to find the one I wanted on the lot because I didn’t really want to have to order. Basically my Jeep was just crapping out on me (like I was throwing 200-300 bucks a month at keeping it going) and after months of deliberation on what I wanted I didn’t want to have to wait any longer.

I may have saved a little bit, but I also was in there at the end of the month when they were being pretty aggressive trying to meet sales numbers. Paid 33,800 before TTL, MSRP was 38,800 with the options on it, all of which I wanted.
I think it actually costs Toyota more to make them than the autos at this point because they don’t make nearly as many, only reason they’re a bit cheaper is because people expect them to be.

I got about $3500 off MSRP on my 19 TRD OR 6MT that I had to order. they had another Barc Red truck on the lot without the packages I wanted and their first internet price quote to me was for 33500k. Im sure there was more wiggle room in that deal also. Cant say for certain whether they are willing to deal more on manuals or not. Since they are actually sought after I would imagine not because the guy that REALLY wants a manual taco next week may be willing to pay more than the casual shopper who would 'take' the manual to try to save money. That being said, when I was pricing out my taco I entertained leasing and surprisingly the TRD OR Manual had 3% high residual over the automatics in the same trim.

I bought a 2019 Tacoma PRO 6MT in October 2018. Put my deposit down in July ($500) as their early allocation 2019 Tacoma was a manual blue. They switched their allocation with someone in Colorado so I could get a White one. I got to pick out the factory accessories that came with it (cheaper than dealer) and I had to pay sticker. I shopped 4 other local dealers and most told me I couldn't get a white manual I just had to wait and see what came to them. Also, none of them said I could pay less than sticker. The finance tried to sell me on extended warranties and I asked if he had seen the Top Gear episode featuring these trucks...of course he said no and I just smiled and politely declined. They also tried to sell me on wheel/tire insurance and I told asked if he knew the tires on the truck were made of kevlar and he again said no. :) I also got my loan through a credit union which had a better APR than what the dealer was offering. Lengthy but wanted to share my experience and DM me if you have any questions!

With the Ford Ranger coming out in January do y'all think the best Tacoma deals will be at the end of 2018 or sometime in 1st quarter 2019?

I'm hoping the competition is good for us all, but I don't want to pass up any end of year deals to be had...

I guess it all depends on what part of the country you're in, and what the inventory is, but I can tell you that when I bought my 2018 one month ago, stock was already scarce. I'm in the NY Metro area and my dealer had to get my Taco from Philadelphia.

I can't see the Ranger affecting 2018 Tacoma sales, because I think the 2018s will be gone by the time the Ranger availability ramps up. My advice is, don't wait past late December. Take advantage of any month end and year end deals.

Toyotathon is going on now. Some great incentives from the Factory.

Do your homework. Know what you should pay. Know what your trade is worth (if trading), know what options cost, and know what the extended warranty costs (if you want one).

    Go get your new truck.

All what he said.....and also look/shop around for the lowest finance rate available to you for the term you want to pay before you enter a dealership.

Example: A local credit union near me offers 1.9% for 48 months, 2.9 for 60 months, and 3.9 for 72 months. I wanted to do 72 months and all the dealers either offered 5.7% or 4.9% and they wouldn't budge until I told them "OK, I won't finance thru Toyota, I'll go thru my credit union." They did another short meeting in the sales manager's office, and guess what? They 'found me' 3.9% financing!

I know I could of gotten maybe another $500. However, the owner bought me a pizza because they were taking so long and I am a diabetic. The pizza didn't show up for an hour and a half and it was cold. So the owner came up to my wife and handed her a $100 bill and said 'have dinner on me'.

This was Toyota of Orlando. How did I do?
