miss during acceleration???

I have an 05 access cab 6spd and i love the truck all except for the miss during acceleration. It feels like i am letting off of the gas and then pressing it again. The check engine light is not on and i have put new plugs in the truck. I have looked and havent found anyone else with the same problem. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this??? BY the way this is my first post

 

Welcome to TW......when did you have the plugs changed? Are you the original owner. It's kind of hard to tell you what could be wrong since you gave very limited info. Sounds like maybe the coil pack on one of your spark plugs isn't seated right, or the connector to the coil pack may not be on right. Have you checked all that out?

 

I had this problem with a first gen. and it was a coil pack, of course it was on an 01' w 150,000. I'm with steviestyles, maybe one isn't seated or possibly a bad or crossthreaded plug, def. a connection in the firing somewhere.

 

the coil packs and boots seem to be connected fine. i changed the plugs as an attempt to fix the problem and nothing changed. i used some seafoam through a vacum line and have also used injector cleaner. i figure if a coil pack was actually bad then the miss would be more consistant and would have a trouble code to make the check engine light come on. the miss is very light and sometimes is more noticeable than others, i have had people ask if i was taking my foot off the gas. seems to be more of a slow miss from fuel rather than a quick spark miss.

 

Is it idling rough? I'd check the vent hose. I forgot to reattach mine when I was done changing my plugs and the engine ran rough and at idle it would surge a bit. I'd also check the Air FIlter next if you haven't changed it in awhile as JHodge mentioned earlier.

 

ok i will check the air filter later today. the motor idles perfect. the miss only occurs around 2000-3500 rpm. thanks for all the input i will keep searching for the problem.

 

Do you see dark smoke coming out of your tait pipe when this happens? Have you checked your truck for any codes?

 

if its fly by wire, try cleaning the throttle body. sometimes the butterfly sticks because of carbon build-up. happens on high mileage engines.

 

no dark smoke that i have noticed. i have check for codes but there are none. its a manual transmision so it would have to be the clutch slipping and that would happen more than just at 1 point.

 

Have you replaced your fuel filter, and cleaned your MAF?

 

I have the same year/model and mine has done this a couple of times, after I just replaced the air filter with an Afe Pro Dry S. Did you figure this out yet?

 

You could disconnect one injector at a time to find which one is causing it. Hopefully it's a consistent problem, or else you'll have to chase it.
Same test can be done with plugs/coils.
Ignore the codes it throws while doing this, and reset after you're done.

I forgot to add:
Check the wires and boots for arcing (usually grey discoloration on black wires). Cracked boots/insulation can do it too.

 

thanks for all the input i havent figured it out yet tho. im gonna change air filter and clean the MAF and see wat happens
