Not to be that guy, but an MD500 is about $1300/FH so it was a few hundo. A grand tops. Regardless, that's a hilarious story.

When a few friends and I are feeling our oats, we'll drive out by the Dugway or Wendover ranges with IR strobes, a few chem lights, and an UHF radio. We've been investigated danger close by a few apaches and that orbit makes you a little nervous.

The Apache is a wicked machine. I’ve gotten the chance to sit in them and goof off a bit. My uncle told me once that a guy used to walk his dog and shine lasers at the apaches when they’d take off. (Why I have no clue) but because they have pretty much 360° laser detection they pin pointed him and arrested him. Kept the 30mm on him the whole time.

My uncle said that guy killed himself a few years later supposedly unrelated.

 

We could make that happen.

Like the last time I was in Colorado I partnered with the forest service to climb up mountains in the San Juan wilderness for weeks and bench/clear trails so that horses could get up there to rescue people. While up there we found a red and white spotted mushroom and had a crazy time. By the time I came down the mountain we had cleared 11mi of trails and been up there for a week longer than we should have been. I still don’t know how we lasted that long with the amount of food we hiked in. But that mushroom ride was flipping nuts.

 

The Aminita Muscaria is a good time waiting to be picked

 

Do you fly helicopters by chance? Or work at the air base in a Salt Lake City?

 

Most of our air assets are pretty crazy these days, but the Apache is one of the top dogs. The MH-60DAP is probably the coolest thing I have seen though. Basically made a blackhawk into an apache.
