Did you get the E rated wildpeaks? I lost less than 1 MPG...after the speedometer/mileage correction. But I got the standard load tires.

Currently trying to pick my next Toyota!
People buy a E rated tire and complain about mpg loss. Lol. I looked up the weights of all SL rated 265s and went with the Wildpeaks. Not the lightest but light for the aggressive tread they have. The Nitto/Toyo ATs on SCSs is about as light as you can get with an AT tire but they're not very aggressive. There's no SL options in the 255 skinny size. KO2s are tanks so I ruled them out first. SLs also ride softer. Are you lifted btw? I might do a small lift with the 265s. Good middle of the road setup.

There’s a D rated 255/85/16- the Cooper ST (non Maxx) that seem to be as light as that size gets. Falken also seems to be making a 255/80/17 in the future, not sure on what load yet.

Ask yourself, "do I get more pleasure inside the truck with better acceleration, lighter steering response, better braking and improved gas mileage with 265s or standing outside the truck looking at 285s?"

I know how I answered the same question.

    255/85r16s?

I ran 255/80r17 ST Maxx on my last taco, I moved up from 275/70r17 K02s. The Coopers were actually just as wide at the BFGs even though they should have been 20mms narrower. I maintained ~17-18mpgs with the 255s, which was only a loss of 1 mpg over stock, the truck was a MT.

265/75r16. If I do anything I'm regearing and going to 35s. These duratracs in C load at 18lbs are like glue.

Not even. 5/8ths by nominal. Few hairs more if you're going from a less aggressive AT.

    But anywho.

Are you running a speedo calibrator? If not, your speed, odo, and mpgs will be off. I doubt you are losing that much mpg's, unless you drive like an a-hole.

With 285's, I'm averaging 18mpg with shitty winter gas. In the summer it's normally around 19mpg.

I'm regeared with 4.30's, but even with the stock gears I got the same mpg.

I currently have 265/75/16s on mine, wish i just went with the 285. Reason being, I didn't get the look I was going for. Yes you do get basically same milage with 265s as a stock truck, but for looks / purpose of offroad 285 is the way to go!

If I was worried about MPG and car-like ride, I would stay with the factory tires.

    I am not.
