Well we get Christmas Day off, they decided to gift us all Christmas Eve off, and I always take at least the day after Christmas off to play with new toys. Usually I’ll take the remainder off as well since that is a full week and only cost me half the time. I get 6 hrs of vacation a pay check so it returns pretty quick and have about 4 weeks stored up now.

Same old shit Mike. I just plug along everyday getting stuff done. I watch the others goofing around and my “helper” mainly stays just sitting on his ass getting paid. I complained and was told he’s only really here in case I need him. It just frosts my ass seeing people not do much or in some cases anything and get paid for it

I had to hit the like button on that just so I could hit the unlike button. Just a difference in industry I guess. We are here for fleet maintenance not profit. As pissed off as I have been for months now I would have started looking elsewhere but the attny said no and we need the medical benefits

For instance my lead man starts at 6. Gets here 5:58 and has been in break room cooking himself breakfast and talking on the phone ever since. This is daily. He does about 2-3 hours work in an 8 hour day

When an employee has vacation time on the books it counts as a liability to the company\organization. So they usually encourage or in some circumstances force people to take vacation time at the end of the year so that the liability comes off the books for the new year.

So the overlords do have a method to their madness.

I fight it and carry over as much as I can. Someone has to stay and keep the lights on and that normally lets me win that battle. If not then I just take the scheduled on call persons on call, no one else wants it over the holidays. I don't want to burn vacation time unless I am hunting, shooting or fishing. And the occasional family reunion.

That's exactly why I have to take it. I like to keep some in reserve in case something happens and need some time off. The company wants us to use all of our vacation time. but they let us carry over 40 hours with permission. Every year I say I'm not going to do it and use the vacation in the summer to backpack. Next year is the year...…...hahah

Two employees, one with 19 years, other with 7 months, fighting over vacation days. Can't BOTH be gone at same time.... 19 year guy put in for his in March. 7 month guy never requested, just informed everyone he was "off next week". Doesn't take Einstien to figure out how this should go....7 month guy declared yesterday I was playing favorites.

"Keep it up and you might be right". I told him.... "Keep it up and you might have a LOT of time off after next week".

    Oh, the Christmas spirit.....
